It's ranked choice voting, you dinguses www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/u...
Doubt it. But if this happens, would think you're also looking at Sen Todd Achilles, and a new world on 11/4.
New Montana Senate poll has Seth Bodnar (I) LEADING in the 3-way race this November: Bodnar (I) 37 Alme (R) 35 Bankhead (D) 13 Undecided 13 Its from Concord Public Opinion Partners, which has A/B rating from Nate Silver
Btw, this is why if you're in D4 you should absolutely rank @drmitchpdx.bsky.social top 3. There's a lot of value in having a representative who has clear values and sticks to them!
Yeah, and different pools of $ ofc. But it feels very strange and off that in the last few years we stood up PFA, a historic expansion of early education. And we passed a $1.8 billion bond to modernize high schools. But in the middle we're now going to shut down a quarter of the schools.
Gonna read through this later because I have a lot of respect for Rachelle. I will say I am immensely confused by 2 schools in my district undergoing major renovations last year just to be slated to close now. Was no one talking to anyone else? It just seems insanely badly planned.
Great thread, if you vote in Portland you owe it to yourself to understand this.
It's totally understandable that people think you shouldn't rank a candidate you don't want in office; the city & county are telling them that. Here's why it's wrong: 1. Ranking a candidate you don't like *can't hurt* a candidate you ranked higher. 2. It can help block a candidate you hate more.
PSA: If a bunch of apps on your phone didn't work this evening, it's because Firebase shipped a server side bug that crashed their SDK.
Incredible twist in the last sentence
Always been a fan of "the Woman", kind, generous, funny, talent, an Icon in music history. Keith, around 1985 was just beginning to be noticed with his drawing on playground walls "CRACK IS WHACK" with his little characters he's famous for. At that time he sub-letted my lower east side apartment.
Many of our favorites from the past couple years came in the mail from the Imagination Library. We value books, we'd have books around no matter what and it STILL made our lives better.
Dolly Parton, among a thousand other amazing things she did in her life, gifted over 330 million books to kids through her Imagination Library program. Her passing is a tremendous loss to the world, but you can support the program today to keep it going imaginationlibrary.com
Seems smart. Commoditize your complements + similar properties to payment routing infra. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/19/b...
This is probably the #1 way Claude has changed how I think. I understood decoupling, DI, etc., but I didn’t visualize my program structure as “seams” and now I do.
I asked Claude why I kept going on about "seams" and what it meant. Surprisingly it had an answer: "It's a term from Michael Feathers (Working Effectively with Legacy Code): a seam is a place in a program where you can change what happens without editing the code that calls it."

Moonshot and Kimi were in the closet distilling Fables and I saw one of the Fables and the Fable looked at me.
White House OSTP Director Michael Kratsios says "we have information that Moonshot AI distilled Anthropic's Fable for the development of its K3 model" (Director Michael Kratsios/@mkratsios47) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink
I'm not sure I understand the strategy after July 12 though. Is the top tier max subscription just forever not going to be their best product? That seems like... not standard product marketing.
Anthropic extends Claude Fable 5 access to all paid plans through July 12; access to the model was set to shift to token-based usage on July 7 (Zac Hall/9to5Mac) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink
I think the exact opposite is true: after like a decade of feeling totally static, I've started to notice Spotify changing every time I open it. What's happening is they aren't changing the core interactions, so you can ignore the new stuff if you want.
Claude Code’s lead developer interviewed Spotify’s VP of Engineering, Niklas Gustavsson, about how they use Claude. He said Spotify does 4,500 production deployments a day and 73% of PRs are now AI-assisted. At a point stats are meaningless. I can’t recall 4 features Spotify has shipped this year

Portlanders deserve a progressive and collaborative City Council. That's why @jameyevenstar.bsky.social is running in District 4, and I am running in District 3. But we need your help now. We both need 250 Portland donors ASAP... (cont.) secure.actblue.com/donate/break...
Give me this so I can run everything I've ever written through it.
Glasswing update: they used mythos to find 10k+ high or critical severity vulnerabilities, cloudflare has found the false positive rate to be better than human testers, and they've used mythos to scan 1k+ OSS projects, finding 6k+ bugs with high or crit severity, and 23k total). Crazy stuff in this
I distinctly remember watching a demo (not this video but from Jeff Han's group) in late 2006 and thinking, wow, that's incredible, it's gonna be a decade before we have those. A year later the iPhone was everywhere.
Still not wrong, the core innovation for those happened like 2006-2008, by 2009 it was all adoption curve.
