I know I'm a Valks fan, but the Dream are the villain of these #WNBA finals, right? (except to ATL fans. But, like, casuals see it, right?)

I am so grateful for my wife's Canadian citizenship. Our oldest started college at a top school in Canada, and all in tuition + room + board + ancillary costs is ~US$22,000. This article points out that the UC schools, for in-state students, is over $50,000. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/b...

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

I'm definitely gonna run out of space before the end of the month, but with the Justice Department's double Dan Sullivan duplicity in Alaska, I couldn't help using some extra space in my stitch-the-news daily news diary to embroider the two Spiderman meme.

Not true. Designed by NASA, built by industry, which makes sense—the federal government doesn’t really have a manufacturing capability.

Carole Lombard 😍

Carole Lombard wonders if she should have ordered what director William Wellman had for lunch. The two, along with art director Lyle Wheeler (R), were taking a break from filming Nothing Sacred (1937) for some chow at the Selznick studio commissary.

It doesn’t surprise me that developers switch freely—a codebase is a codebase. But I have a lot of IP embedded in Claude, and the thought of porting that elsewhere leads me to just leave it where it is.

While many believe AI token prices will go up over time, they’ve actually been getting cheaper as competition from open weight models puts pressure on the pricing from frontier labs. Additionally, developers seem to have little qualms around switching models. So far, no one seems to have a moat.

This is a half mile from where I live

This is exactly why I do what I do, and take an organizational lens. The issue is rarely about individuals, and usually about systems and structures that incline towards certain behaviors and outcomes.

But now, in these times, participants are less people with jobs in organizations where the work they were hired to do keeps getting ignored or dismissed, but they have hope of building influence, and more people looking back at a series of roles where they were structurally set up to fail.

The degree of ignorance fueled by privilege and self-righteousness is thick here. His examples are “white dudes in tech post there, so it’s great.” X is inclusive, but only if you’re not a person of color or trans. (Smugly, gratified that others are seeing what was apparent to me about a decade ago)
