It's overdue, and probably doomed, and I'm too old, and I don't care anymore. (he/him)

As a young man, I used to think there was no such thing as 'forbidden' knowledge, that knowledge was always good and could never be harmful. As a somewhat older man, I regard this position was folly. No one is improved by finding out what a Malfoid is. This is a knowledge that should be forbidden.
what the fuck is a Malfoid

I regret I have but one heart to give this take 💜 My thing with LLMs is: all of their environmental, legal, and epistemological issues could disappear overnight, and the tech is still going to be used as a cudgel to smash worker power, and to disenfranchise folks already struggling to get ahead.
My hottest AI take is that the executive class is petrified of labor and saw that whatever else LLMs are/aren't, they're fine labor-smashers + that a ton of ordinary people find the artificial hyper-complexity and scamminess of modern life and work so unbearable that they'll throw a god-box at it.

Also! “Professor of practice” is a term of art. It’s specifically about real-world experience of the thing being taught, in all sorts of disciplines. 🤷🏻♀️ Like architecture: www.sydney.edu.au/architecture... When political scientists first raised concerns about this new restriction last year we were told we were being ‘alarmist’ to suggest tilting the playing field unfairly like this by one party can undermine the legitimacy of the election out come for all Kiwis in a tight race I’m still ‘alarmed’…
Last day! NZ National restricted general roll voting regulations for the first time in 40 yrs To reporters please don’t repeat spin- the change won’t speed up counting - And let’s not shrug & say just 2% fewer voters enrolled It’s 300,000 NZers prevented from voting That’s an entire NZ town

Harrowing but very good piece that puts all the current political and media nonsense in context. Deals with the systematic failure of NZ govt and society to address institutional abuse in care. Tim Jago, Aussie Malcom, etc can be understood in this context. Horrible. newsroom.co.nz/2026/10/25/a...

so now we're going to have 2 weeks of media pressure on ACT Party associations with a convicted pedophile right? Because Seymour has openly lied about this for years, and this is pretty good evidence that he was being dishonest
Given that previous justifications for lack of coverage of David Seymour's association to Tim Jago rested on Seymour's claim that he didn't know Jago very well, this should immediately ring alarm bells and have journalists asking some serious questions

And last one so I stop spamming y'all: Winston Peters contributed to a Black Power owned newspaper Te Iwi o Aotearoa His were: March 1988: “The Future of Employment in Aotearoa” May 1988: “Education — The Key to Race Relations” July 1989: An analysis of the government's Treaty principles. #nzpol
This one he wasn't even mistaken. In his own words Mark Mitchell met literal gang members. #nzpol

According to the LinkedIn post @debtekawa-ao.bsky.social posted, Curia has been hardcore failing to accurately call the Māori electorates since switching methods in 2023 to include a panel element. Tāmaki Makaurau sample now biased to the tune of 2.5x as many homeowners lmao Give Whakaata a refund!

💯 but also - take a look at the Tāmaki Makaurau results for a snapshot of the likely bias in these numbers - 17.5% of Māori (per Te Whata, 2023 census) own their home in Auckland, one of the polling items - but 43% in the poll said they did. This is where the bias is in the poll

one of the ways for Hipkins to take the heat off Labour would be to do a big 'stand up' announcement and go after ACT and Seymour on how Jago was covered up, and that the entire National coalition is invested in protecting powerful pedophiles and their supporters
I take it the media pushed back asking about the pedophile from the ACT Party that Seymour helped to shield from voters in the lead up to the last election, right? RIGHT?

every single major outlet with multiple reporters and newsrooms OIAing and muckraking about gangs for 2 weeks straight: "we simply don't have the *resources* to investigate the association between Seymour and Jago *which has been publicly available on social media*"

Uh... almost certainly not. But we're going to play this game, perhaps we wouldn't have Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court if Judiciary Committee chair Joseph Robinette Biden hadn't enabled the public slut-shaming of Anita Hill. Which he still refuses to apologise to Hill for.
