And the freaking greatest thing I have ever seen: this intersection has a traffic signal that is set by DEFAULT for pedestrians and cyclists, cars have to activate to cross. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

What is the BBC's justification for maintaining this level of coverage of Reform now it has slipped into third place?

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

Before and after: 6 years ago, Utrecht restored the Catharijnesingel. Once filled in during the 1970s to make way for traffic, the historic canal now flows again around the old city, lined with pedestrian paths, bike lanes, and a park-like landscape.

It’s always inspiring seeing what other cities do to make streets safer. In Paris, it’s impossible not to notice the ubiquitous zebra crossings that help give pedestrian priority on side roads. I’m delighted we’re working with Dept Transport to start trialing these at scale in London.

What hope is there when this is how driving instructors park and teach pupils that this is acceptable. Kids, pick a responsible teacher. You cannot pass your test with behaviour like this.

Why do cycle bridges matter? Cycle bridges create safe, direct routes for people on bikes, especially across busy roads, railways, or waterways. They remove conflict points with motor traffic, reducing the risk of collisions and making cycling more enjoyable for everyone.

“Dutch people cycle an average of 2.6km each per day. If this pattern was replicated worldwide, annual carbon emissions would drop by 686 million tonnes. This mammoth figure exceeds the entire carbon footprint of most countries, including the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia.” @euronews.com

‘It’s the best feeling’: how Copenhagen gave cyclists a green wave. “Traffic lights are synchronised so a rush-hour cyclist at 20km/h can catch green lights all the way.” If you want people to choose not to drive, make the non-driving trip better & easier for them. It’s as simple as that, really.

Heat pumps & insulation would cut living costs more than new oil fields Isn't it strange how Andy Burnham's "pragmatic" approach to the North Sea involves doing exactly what fossil fuel lobbyists want? No party is serious about dealing with the cost of living unless they also tackle climate change

It would be wonderful if our local representatives would actually take this on board rather than stick to culture wars and motor-first thinking. For the best part of a decade we've had valuable routes planned - not even a comprehensive network, just a starting point - but they've not been built.

From a systems&transition design perspective, the real failure is having to fight the same battles in every city, decade after decade. The evidence is clear:bike lanes benefit local businesses;deliver #cobenefits. Why’s progress still so hard? How to change the systems that keep reproducing resistance?

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you really should watch and share this excellent news story. Paris is showing how to make cities healthier and more child-friendly. More than 300 school streets are now car-free and give space to trees, play, and safe walking/cycling. The aim goes far beyond traffic safety: cleaner air, less noise, and more independence for children.

Why careless driving? It wasn't careless, he deliberately drove fast in very poor conditions. That's dangerous! It's time that the Gov came up with clearer definitions of dangerous and careless drivings and prosecuted drivers accordingly with seriously long bans to reflect the impact on others.
