Here's a thread of what #OpenBorders means to me in vibes. I'll add to it later. What does open borders mean to y'all?
www.liberalcurrents.com/abolition-am...
You know something we don't talk about enough?
Open borders are just cool as hell.
#OpenBorders is Neo telling the Machines he's going to "show the people what you don't want them to see ... a world without rules or controls, borders or boundaries, a world where anything is possible."
I, for one, think that Raman should refuse to submit to DSA National's Bondage and Discipline Socialism. And DSA-LA should tell DSA-National to fuck right off.
But then, I'm a liberal socialist. A maverick, some say.
One resolution (which passed 14-13) calls on Raman to meet with DSA-LA leaders on Oct. 31 to explain her position on BDS. If she does not satisfactorily affirm her support for BDS, the NPC will vote on Nov. 1 to force DSA-LA to withdraw its endorsement of her. docs.google.com/document/d/1...
The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.
Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States.
"In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct."
Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...
I managed to go through the day without seeing this until now. I didn't we still had new information coming out from the Epstein files.
Trump is a rapist and the entire Republican party is committed to covering for him.
This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up.
Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking.
The media response is "yawn."
A 2025 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, Omar Yaghi is the son of Palestinian refugees who grew up in Jordan.
He just left the US to move to China after raising concerns about rising anti-immigrant sentiment, like the kind shown here. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/china-than...
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."
I am sympathetic to the case for abstaining for anti-trans House candidates. We really do have solid margin there, and it communicates something valuable.
I cannot agree about not voting for Turek. We don't even know we're winning the Senate, and every (D) senator is invaluable.
i think "vote dem across the board, but for the 4 very worst dems on trans rights you can leave them blank" is a reasonable position
(& a reasonable compromise between vbnmw & fears about dems going full uk labour)
But just in general I want to put a stake through the heart of the too-clever-by-half 9-dimensional chess approach to voting. You get this in presidential election years with assholes not voting for Democrats because they're not in swing states. Or "vote trading" with someone in another state. 🙄
This is how we shoot ourselves in the collective dick.
Just consider how much psychological damage we suffered by losing the *popular* vote in 2024, even though it didn't technically matter.
It *broke* us. We were spasming helplessly on the floor for months.

We have reason to be optimistic, but it's very possible a pro-R polling error, Collins magic, anti-AES islamophobia, Alaskan legal shenanigans, and a Blexas mirage means we *still* fall short of a Fetterman-proof Senate.
Don't fuck around. Vote Blue.
"Under Brazilian federal law, all legislators have immunity...To run for President, Bolsonaro decided not to run for his Senate seat. Now, after losing the Presidential election, he no longer has legislative immunity when his Senate term expires in January 2027."
Very Special Episode of no amnesty
Flávio Bolsonaro had his passport confiscated by the Brazilian fed police as his brother Eduardo told him to flee to the US.
He is tied to paramilitary gangs, is being investigated & lost his legislative immunity when he left the Senate to run for president.

This doesn't surprise me in the least. Cornel West was shopping around for any third party who would take him. Third party presidential runs in the US are always exercises in vanity or ratfuckery. Usually both. Perfect vehicle for Musk's manipulations.
NEW: The group behind Cornel West's 2024 ballot push was wholly funded through Elon Musk's dark money network, according to Sludge's review of tax documents. readsludge.com/2026/10/26/m...
Kind of funny, in an Ancient Greek Hell kind of way, that this guy handed Trump the presidency in 2016, and as a reward Trump is kicking him in the teeth forever. www.nbcnews.com/politics/jus...
My formative political experience was the Berlin Wall coming down, as my parents shared the stories of Germans daringly smuggled to freedom to be reunited with their families, to explain to me the joy bursting forth on the screen and why they were tearing up at crowds dancing and cheering at night.
This, but also, as a liberal I believe in freedom and human rights for all people, all around the world. That translates into rooting interests in elections where freedoms and rights are on the ballot, as they often are.
The persecution of @repilhan.bsky.social just days before an election is vile and politically-motivated.
I'm leading 175 House Democrats in denouncing this. When we retake power, we have to seriously look at how we can stop these abuses of power — starting with the power of the purse.
Michigan has a "straight party" voting option, where if you want to vote single party, you can just fill in one box for that.
Anyone know if the presence of this option has an effect on split ticket voting, empirically?

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.
NEWS --> Dems are planning novel ways to wield power of the purse against Trump's corrupt prosecutions of critics like Ilhan Omar if they win House. Reps Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin tell me a range of aggressive tactics will be deployed.

“Ramaswamy’s ad embraces a woman who enabled sexual abuse—and uses the language of ‘parental estrangement’ to mobilize MAGA voters who can’t understand why their children won’t take their calls.
But they know the reason. They just don’t want to accept it.”

This is a good answer morally because it supports trans people. It's great politically because it's authentic. It's just a fact that the median Kansan isn't as versed in gender studies as the average Bluesky poster. It's okay to say this!
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights:
“I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”
Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called.
An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.
The implication being: the democrats would enshrine Trump as king for life if he promised full trans genocide and deputized them as ice gender agents.
They would clone trans people and forcefemm apes to keep killing once the last of us died.
They are bloodthirsty ravenous and weak.
Fuck them
I'm asking my fellow Jews in Michigan to help elect the first Muslim American to the U.S. Senate—a devoted dad, a scholar, a visionary thinker, and a genuinely good dude.
Let's be the people we hope others will be. Islamophobia and antisemitism feed the same beast. Let's starve that MFer.
Join me and Vice President @kamalaharris.com for a virtual fundraiser in support of our campaign for the U.S. Senate!
Every bit of support helps us reach more voters and finish strong.

New — I wrote about Vivek Ramaswamy’s weaponization of Amy Acton’s childhood sexual abuse and how it’s only the latest symptom of a Republican party flush with rape apologists, led by an adjudicated rapist:
I've heard of the "tow the line" mistake, and when I was a kid I thought it was "butt naked" (which makes sense!), but I wasn't aware these other phrases got garbled.
We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps:
-It’s ‘sleight of hand’
-It’s ‘bated breath’
-It’s ‘lo and behold’
-It's 'buck naked'
-It’s ‘brass tacks’
-It’s ‘free rein’
-It’s ‘toe the line'
$446 million of his (sometime) reported net worth of $1 trillion means he’s still only spending 0.0446% of his net worth to try to buy elections.
put in more concrete terms: if you had $100, this would be like spending less than 5 cents.
now tell me again why i should vote against a wealth tax.
“.. The world’s richest man poured $446 million of his own money into this year’s midterm elections, mostly aimed at preserving the Republican Party’s control of Congress, recent election filings show.”
