Listening to a report about Google chopping down a quarter of a million trees in Finland to build a data centre while washing out yoghurt pots for the recycling

Getting into the later parts of "MIO: Memories in Orbit" and I can just say that this game is fantastic?

Haskellers and other FP weenies: when people say Haskell is good for making DSLs, what do they mean? Is a bunch of functions that reads nicely, solving a specific problem in your codebase, a DSL? Is something like OCamls Angstrom a DSL? Feels like a term people like throwing around!

Depressed whenever parents tell me they use ChatGPT to tell their kids stories. You finally get the opportunity to exercise creativity together with your kid: let's outsource it to the slop machine.

Instinctively responded "We can use our _brains_ for that" when engineering manager asked "Can we use Claude for that?"

"Make no mistakes" I jokingly said, followed by Cladde refactoring code completely unrelated to this PR — that code had been identified as a mistake.

My biggest pet peeve with LLMs right now is that it turns people I respect into lazy fucking imbeciles: "haha yeah it was Cl*use that wrote that haha".

Replying to @patriksvensson.se

They're frankly an acquired taste. Unless you hang out in underground programmer classes in a basement in Paris, there's a chance you've never heard about them. Anyway, they're currently my favourite type of types.

I kinda enjoy developing on a Macbook because the hardware is good and blablabla that but holy shit as soon as I open XCode or try to do anything related to even trying to ship something "natively" to macOS I want to end it (in game).

It's cold and snowy back in the hills lately. Just north of Sid's Fork, the townspeople say a strange howling wind comes rattling down off the ridge sometimes. Probably nothing right?

Ok... plenty of languages does this? :^) But do they also support labeled arguments!?

Haven't really thought too hard about this but is there a language out there that supports default parameters, but the default value is based on some of the other parameters to the function?

Yes honey I am coming to bed any second now I only need to figure out why I can't commit this reserved virtual memory it will be quick!

Code formatters, linters, conventions etc is just a big ploy to make it easier for BIG AI to parse and steal your code!

Do you make errors because of shadowing? Often, specially with pattern matching I find myself _want_ shadowing. In this branch we should always refer to this inner value, not the outer. Not having shadowing results in having to come up with names and sometimes people are just lazy and append an _.
