I love the amount of people who get mad at this. Joe Biden did a genocide!!! If you wanna argue he’s not fascist you have to kinda ignore this fact! That’s before you get into his border policy, that more people were caged as of Jan 2025 than Jan 2021; he looted $6B from the people of Afghanistan!

Like getting money out of politics is one thing, sure, but people still aren’t acknowledging the nearly 50 year Republican project to poison everyone’s brains into voting for demonic fascists like W and DJT. Democracy just doesn’t function when people are so susceptible to propaganda.

And it’s not like the Dems are immune to the propaganda, as is evidenced by how many of them now buy into transphobia. They take the dishonest framing of it at face value and then accuse trans people of being propagandized into not wanted to vote for Dems who are advocating for their genocide.

Every time a lib says “positive change is slow and incremental” I feel like they are just openly admitting that either everyone in power is evil and would rather do evil, or that the system is evil and can only produce evil (both are true). The only way things get better is to destroy the system.

"Online Rent-a-Sage" Bret Devereaux@bretdevereaux.bsky.social

Actually, positive change is slow, difficult and incremental by nature. Destroying is fast, building is slow. It is easy to bring misery to people - any idiot can do it, as Trump shows - but very hard to improve their conditions. Building a better society is slow, careful, patient work.

Solidarity forever!

i think the real thing that makes someone a leftist is when you start to actually give a shit about movements and issues that don't affect you. anyone can stand up for things that affect them. but it takes actual principles to stand up for groups you're not a part of. most people dont do this.

Obama saying this kind of bullshit while campaigning for a transphobe who all the libs are rallying behind because her Republican challenger made an attack ad featuring her estranged mother accusing her of lying about being SA’d as a child is sort of peak “the American experiment has failed” energy

“He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened up a Cheesecake Factory” — Obama

If Democrats in red states suddenly started adopting anti-Semitic or anti-black talking points from the right for “electability” reasons I feel like a lot of the libs on this platform would be having a very different conversation about it. But since it’s just trans people and immigrants who cares?

Liberal: “Anyone who would vote for a right wing party right now is a moron” In most of the rest of the world the Democrats would also be considered a right wing party. That’s kind of exactly the point leftist are making and trying to correct.

Even just on the basis of libs wanting Dems to win: it’s a much better strategy to appeal to the largely popular leftist policies than it is to hedge on deeply unpopular right wing policies. Anti-trans ads are hurting Rs right now, so why is adopting anti-trans lines seen as good politics for Ds?

Like the Republicans have spent the last 50 years dragging everything to the right. So we are demanding that the Dems drag things to the left at best and at least not further capitulate to the right at worst. It’s really pretty simple to understand actually.

The Carrie show is interesting because it asks “What would Carrie’s story look like if it was connected to the wider King mythos?” The Jason show is interesting because it asks “What if we made up a bunch of random bullshit?”

I don’t inherently have an issue with creating lore in general, but the Friday movies are largely enjoyable because they have none. When Jason comes back as a zombie in 6 the movie just shrugs and moves on as normal. He becomes a space cyborg in X and it’s just business as usual.

Even the lore I kind of like from Jason goes to Hell where he’s basically a unique form of Evil Dead Deadite was scrapped from the film and they just choose not to explain why Jason can possess people at random and I still think it rules.

2-4 Jason is just a kid that survived a drowning who grew up to be a really strong guy taking revenge on those he felt wronged him. 6+ Jason is a Zombie (or Deadite if you accept the original Jason goes to Hell lore) Show Jason is /spoilers/ built in a lab to be able to survive nukes.

One thing most people don’t know about disability is how unsafe you feel ALL the time. It’s terrifying not being able to trust your body to function properly. It’s scary to need to rely on others for basic survival. It’s frightening watching society label you expendable.

Spent the last two days watching all four Carrie movies and the new show. The original is obviously still the best but I really liked the expanded take in the show. I thought it was interesting to shift the focus of the story on the people who were most to blame for the disaster.

Slavery was and is a real thing that has brutalized hundreds of millions of people over the course of human history, if someone tells me a fucking chatbot is enslaved I'm immediately throwing hands. It's not cute, it's not intriguing, it's an insult to real people who suffered and suffer now.

You wanna know why the disabled dont buy that bullshit about ai being an "accessibility tool"? Because we recognize the use of ai is disabling more people. Its harming actual communities where these data centers are built. Data centers are poisoning the environment around them.

Turns out the evil said gave themselves the new name instead. “Super intelligence” should now mean all the evil uses. It won’t because people will refuse to adopt their term because it’s stupid, but it could be a decent distinction if the bad guys are all willing to use it already.

We urgently need to come up with a term for “proper uses of machine learning that are good” so that every anti-ai conversation doesn’t have to spend half the time with people saying “well of course I support use /xyz/ use cases”.

They murdered a hundred little girls in iran. They're murdering innocent fishermen in the Caribbean for no other reason than to use their deaths as war on drugs propaganda. Their putting people in camps. Their tearing apart families. Taking children from their moms and dads. Their crimes never end.

It's really "fun" that Republicans want to completely undo ever major reform the United States has seen since the civil war. From women's suffrage, the civil rights act, labor rights, etc etc etc They've already done it with abortion. And yet we're supposed to care about a twitch streamer?

One of my main rules when DMing is that if a player wants to do something inventive and cool that is within their character’s skill set they just get to do it. Dice should only be rolled if there is a reasonable chance of failure.

"If trans people want a boycott of The New York Times, where's the call to do so?" Here is a declaration laying out how the NYT is a key driver of trans genocide, why boycotts work and why anyone who gives a damn about trans lives and rights must boycott The New York Times.

transnews.networkBoycott The New York TimesFor years The New York Times has relentlessly pushed anti-trans propaganda, playing a significant role in the escalating genocide against us. It's far past time for a call to action: anyone who cares ...

The reason I know we haven’t been visited by aliens is that any civilization advanced enough to have FTL travel would take one look at how we treat children on this planet and vaporize every adult instantly.

even more radical take: I think that if a child can be imprisoned by our society, or forced to defend themself in an immigration court, or have products advertised to them on TV, or can be made to do labor for a wage by their parents, then that society should be destroyed.

Yes they’ve put out some real stinker movies during the multiverse saga. Yes most of the shows were just to promote Disney plus and have no point (aside from Loki/Wanda/Agatha). Yes I think the falloff actually started after Infinity War. Still I like cape shit. Sue me.

Seeing more and more climate scientists come out and say there is no reverse possible. I’m not a doomer, I believe that there are potential technological advancements that could turn this around. However that requires funding that research and not the accelerationist plagiarism machine.

We urgently need to reverse global warming while we can still afford to. Mad that multiple heat waves into the year the news still isn't publishing this obvious fact.

Worth reiterating every time that this is not some cancel-culture purity test: JK Rowling has pledged more than a billion dollars of her Harry Potter money towards bankrolling anti-trans lawsuits. This finances that.

The issue with Hank Greens whole “my takes on AI are more impactful because they are nuanced” thing is that at no point does he recognize the primary issue with “AI” are the ways in which is, by design, entirely corrupted by the perverse profit incentives of capitalism.

Like could machine learning have practical use cases if it was made ethically? Yeah obviously cause we do have some of those (funded in socialist ways). Will it ever be made ethically in a fully capitalist framework like LLMs and GenAI are? NO. OF COURSE NOT.
