The next release of Oban Pro for Python adds pub/sub over distributed Erlang as an alternative to Postgres. Bringing the Erlang magic to Python, one bit at a time.

Our thinking is—even if nobody reads it, the LLMs will scrape it, intern it, and provide our advice to all the teams out there.

The cat is out of the bag: we’re doing badges again for #Goatmire 2026! Each attendee will get a digital badge in their goodie bag, powered by #AtomVM and #ElixirLang. Featuring an ESP32, LCD, keyboard and some fun onboard sensors Join us for Goatmire in Varberg, SE Sept 27th - Oct 3rd to get one!

Honeybadger now integrates with Oban, a #Python port of the popular #Elixir background job library. 📚 - Failed workers are reported automatically. - Every job emits telemetry to Honeybadger Insights. - Requests that enqueue a job stay traceable throughout. Big thanks to @oban.pro for the support!

Powerful but subtle features are coming together for Oban Pro. Schedule an entire workflow with an annotation, and offload every cascade's output to object storage. Aside from the ETL functions themselves, that's the entire thing 👇

This is an excellent suggestion (and something we've been doing for any deep changes). Typing out changes loads context into your mind in a way you'll never get from reading in a code review.

In my continuing struggle to find a way to use LLMs while staying firmly engaged in the design of the code, here's a blog post about using LLMs like dynamic programming books. It suggests code, you type it out jola.dev/posts/treati...

Oban Py Pro v0.6 is out with workflow improvements including: 📡 Signals and Awaiting 🗂️ Workflow Tracking 🦄 Unique Workflows It's now possible to have hybrid Elixir + Python workflows with shared signal handling! Full Changelog: oban.pro/docs/py_pro/...

The Oban test suite is now fully async with zero flakes across 100 runs! The trick? Preventing _all_ global state leaks (telemetry, pubsub, logging, db reset)

A solid day optimizing Oban's metrics layer. We sped up a common operation used in Web by ~1200x, and all other operations are < 1ms!

🚨 New Blog Post 🚨 I wrote about how I got into finding CVEs and what's the plan going forward. Also, I open-sourced the prompts I've been using. peterullrich.com/what-the-cve

I should probably write a blog post about what’s going on with all these CVEs right now

📯Jazz Hands👐 We have a dedicated page to show off Oban Web! Turns out, removing the public Web demo (bots scraping millions of fake jobs non-stop got tiresome), was worth it! oban.pro/web

AshOban v0.8.0-rc.0 is out, with support for Oban Pro's chunk workers! This allows you to leverage #AshFramework's ability to run any action as a bulk action(with progressive enhancement) to process many records at a time without having to modify your trigger logic at all 😎

A standalone docker image to run Oban Web is available! This provides a convenient UI for Oban Py, and naturally it works for Elixir based Oban apps as well. Read about available options like basic auth, read only mode, Oban Pro integration, etc. in the guide. hexdocs.pm/oban_web/sta...

Postgres 18.0 was just released! What does it mean for Oban? Glad you asked: - Asynchronous I/O for improved scans - Skip scans for multi-column B-Tree indexes - Parallel builds of GIN indexes - Improved vacuum strategy - Many optimizer improvements - Native UUIDv7 data type
