For #journalist folks, who just might happen to read this post, a question: Are you embedding #Twitter / #X posts in your stories? And for those who know, love and support #journalists, believe in a strong #FreePress, please discourage this practice #NewsMedia www.nuttyinnyc.com/blog/are-you...

I think Ds have largely avoided big discussions of Musk because the other messages they're concentrating on our landing so well and you can only concentrate on a few things. But it's worth saying clearly that the GOP is the tool of maintaining Musk's power over American society.

Tim O’Brien@timobrien.bsky.social

Musk has funneled more than $276 million into Republican groups and his PAC since July, building a huge turnout operation for the midterms. “The staggering amount of money makes Mr. Musk, the richest person in the world, by far the largest known donor in the midterms” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/12/u...

Just back from talk/discussion Little did this evening promoting the book. It was interesting, though time constraints meant he couldn't go too in depth (at least for us "terminally online" folk, plus the internet is big😋). But great to have something like this 5 minutes from home😀

2) This week the focus is on those movements that should make thoughtful people at worst squeamish and at best activated. Key terms which apply to the 👆episode: #xenophobia #racism #sexism The episode details how the GOP became home for the worst ideas of a loud few #USPolitics #Politics

For those politicos migrating to the #FarRight, being virulently anti environment is one of the toll gates to be passed through. Misogyny, xenophobia, racism are some of the other ugly checkboxes that need to be ticked #Politics #UKPolutics

There was a time when the Tories, however hypocritically, claimed to want to protect our natural heritage. Now they're just a party of vandals, ripping down the few protections the living world has for the sake of their rich chums. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I don't mind what religion someone follows, so long as they aren't preaching hate. And for capitalism – well I count myself as a democratic socialist, and I own a small business. I'm happy for people to make money so long as they do so without exploiting people or the environment, and they give back

A painful reminder for the #billionaire class financing the GOP. Money, while important, does not necessarily guarantee votes especially when voters are being called upon to elect a corrupt politician tethered to Trump and a party which has lost all moorings to decency #USPolitics #Texas
