The Christa Pike thing is beyond horrifying. And you know the Sinister Six on the Supreme Court will look at this and say it wasn't cruel and unusual. If you're going to do this, the Soviets had the right idea. A shot to the back of the head without warning. Not this macabre ritual.

If you find yourself tempted to post any comment that might sound a lot like, "they're just following orders," here's a sneak preview of where that ends up:

So the Republican Convention. Offered a video claiming God had ordained Trump to save America. Had a call and response where Ted Cruz named Democratic politicians and the crowd replied chanted back that they should be shot. And Trump led the crowd in a pledge of allegance to himself personally.

Last night, out of nowhere, our son wants to show us this video which turns out to be Harlan Ellison. I mention that we have several of his anthologies and our son replies he's halfway through one, currently reading I'm Looking for Kadak. "To these aged eyes, boy, that's what winning looks like!"

the lesson of this primary seems to be that being old is now a major issue for dem voters, but not as big of an issue as being a massive prick

Trump: "Spain is a wasted cause. We don't want to do any trade business with Spain anymore, by the way. I'd like to cut it off. Spain is a terrible partner in NATO. Cut off all trade with Spain, please. Including visits. We don't want anything to do. They're hopeless. Bad people."

Thinking of DC looking like this. The DC I knew. It seems almost incomprehensible today.

2000s America presents a stark contrast to the corrupt, war-torn region we all know today. Take a peek at the way America was before the Religious extremists took over. This shocking picture for example, was the Reflecting Pool, far different than the one we see today.

This is an absolutely fabulous journal article saying what I think most of my friends already realize: it's the movement of the "conservative" movement to the extreme right that is causing our current issues, not an equal "polarization" between parties.

Petter Törnberg@pettertornberg.com

‘Polarization’ has become the master concept for diagnosing our current democratic crisis. But this is not polarization. It is the radicalization of the political right. By misdiagnosing it, we risk becoming complicit in the crisis. 🧵 Just out in Perspectives on Politics doi.org/10.1017/S153...

Looking at the empty seats at Foxboro for Germany Paraguay is infuriating. I would love to have gone, but at $1000+ for nosebleed seats that wasn't happening. I hope #FIFA chokes on the huge stack of Benjamins they're hoovering up. You betrayed actual fans and sucked Trumps cock dry. FU

It should have been a celebration that reminded us of everything that connects us as a nation a moment to showcase the incredible diversity and creativity of the American people. That would have been a celebration worthy of this historic milestone.
