It's hard to mount a Capcom CPS2 board in my PCB holders. The Capcom system is a great big plastic case and my PCB holders work with the edges of game PCBs. So I made an adaptor that snaps into place and allows the CPS system to be easily swapped in and out of a cab like any other game.

This was a pretty easy call, honestly. Twitch has never brought me any joy that I need an account for. The stench of desperation is palpable. "Please use AI to make something, anything, make it look useful, we need this." Fuck AI. h/t: @gregersn.eurosky.social

Whole lot of people being unbearably smug about the PHP problem, and I tell you what, while all my sites are down waiting for a patch maybe you can go fuck yourselves.

A MiSTer dev appears to have erased another dev's name off source files and released it as their own. Zero fucks, zero cool. Sure seems like the ultimate end when MiSTer users clamour for AI slop games instead of the quality efforts we used to see. Moar games moar faster! And here we are.

Pulled my webserver offline, along with all my sites, because some clown (on Twitter, natch, and apparently using AI because of course) dropped exploit code before the disclosure and patch release in a few hours. So, that's fun.

God, grant me the serenity to bomb the patterns I cannot dodge, the courage to dodge the patterns I can, and the wisdom to tell the difference.

The new Castlevania, from the people who made Dead Cells (a favourite of mine) is really fucking great. It's tough, fun, and beautiful.

Gamesx.com is 30 years old next year. Surely one of the oldest, longest running sites of its kind by now. I want to do something to mark the occasion, but what? 🤔

My friend out there doing good content at the quiet end of Australia. Content value A+ audience size Z-- Maybe check out his Sega podcast!

I just posted a podcast ep while one of my radio shows is broadcasting over FM and streaming. Look everybody, I'm a self facilitating media node.

I think @pattheflip.bsky.social encapsulated the current Twitter vs Bluesky debate pretty well when he said, basically: The folks who left Twitter because of musk/nazis, but love AI, would rather go back to twitter and hang out with nazis than be scolded about their AI use on Bluesky.

Replying to @xkeeper.net

nobody could stop the cheap clones before, where someone would just rip off your design/assets and flip them for a cheap ad-loaded game on an app store. quality didn't matter as much as how fast you could get ads to eyeballs. now that philosophy is everywhere else, too. welcome to hell.

May as well get it over with.. I've been working on a podcast, and finally got around to putting a trailer together. It's a little editing intensive and I'm already doing two bloody radio shows, but it makes me happy putting it together, and people might even be interested. rss.com/podcasts/are...

rss.comAre You Alex Kidding? | Podcast on RSS.comYou've got yourself a podcast which gives all sorts of insight into the games of the Sega eight bit era.

Zonos, the US company handling tariffs from Australia Post into the USA, has been emailing the new rules coming into effect next week! Get ready! Here they come! We'll tell you as soon as we know! Today they emailed again. "It's delayed until January! Get ready!" Get your shit together, USA.

Every damn day. Someone recently AI-rewrote an entire wiki, filling it with errors, duplicate content, notes to self, links that don't work. Their responses: "What's wrong with AI" "I guess there are some problems" "I guess I'll just delete my account" Not my place to say, but yeah, do that.

I bought a book. Rise of the Teenage Mutant Turtles was a fantastic, funny and fun show that didn't last as long as it should. Some of the episodes are uproariously funny.

At some point my objection to these systems boils down to, the companies that create these models have evil goals, have chosen to do a great deal of bad shit in pursuit of these goals, and so to use their products and services is, not to put too fine a point on it, to align oneself with evil goals

I think it’s important for anyone who (completely understandably) checked out on AI the second the crypto/nft/metaverse/snake oil chuds started pushing it to realize that, in at least the domain of software development, we are very much living in a scenario where the snake oil actually works

Anyway I think I'm going to not talk about AI for a day or two. Here's 27 seconds of Electric Callboy in Brisbane last month. 🤘😃

The AI balance, between 'useful application' and 'all the harms' seems so fucking obvious. I go on about this because I have to believe it's ignorance. But they don't change! So the unspoken followup to "It makes things easier for me" is "so fuck you". 1/

AI users are kids with a new toy. A lot of them are just making stuff because now they can make stuff, who cares? (Never mind the cost!) But there's no _passion_ in what they do. Like people drive auto instead of manual (when there was a choice) or get coffee from a pod instead of 2/

learning to use an espresso machine. They just want the end result, they don't want to suffer the inconvenience of learning, practicing, making mistakes. A lot of people have always been like that! But I never respected it, and I sure as fuck won't start now. I will take the hard path. 3/3

Someone is posting ports of games I like to a platform I like on my forum, made with AI, and once again the world is cramming AI in front of me and I have to refine and hone the blade of 'fuck AI' again. The MiSTer community is a dumping ground for AI shovelware. 1/

It's a numbers game. Line go up, burn a rainforest, fill your drive with slop. And the community has to do all the work. A dev with his brain attached to the project tests it out, looks for bugs, releases it when it has achieved a level of quality. That's not how it works with AI. 2/

AI devs plop a new port and the community does all the work, reporting countless bugs any human dev would never have let slip. And then the author tells the robot 'do better'. Good job, everyone. Line go up. Fuck you. 3/3

Almost no effort is too much for sites like this one about deterring squirrels. I quote: "and use a whistle for the karate kid-lookalike enuarily and do not overuse and disturb “@ctf”* as he would usually hide under your deck, in the attic or even in your garage." It's all so fucking stupid.

MiSTer dev knows full well the cost of rapid-fire porting games from MAME using AI, gives no fucks.

I guess the author of this article, @alankohler.bsky.social, has an account here, but he's not been active all year. Probably won't notice when I say that say that he's bought the AI hype hook, line and sinker. Absolutely not qualified to reach the article's conclusion.

TV in 2026 is not disabusing me of the concept of Reacher: Summary Execution Teddybear. A stoic rescue dog who arrives, says "ma'am", nods, is thoughtful, specific, observant, listens, then says "These seven people must die" and proceeds to kill nineteen of them. Cops go "oh reacher!"

I don't know any of the people involved in this, I've never heard Geller's name before today, but gosh, this is a very well written article that discusses a lot of difficult things.

Yesterday's news about Jacob Geller broke my heart, so much that I couldn't stop dwelling on it all day. In an effort to make sense of this horrific news and my admittedly complicated feelings about it, here is my article on the Jacob Geller situation: epiloguegaming.com/what-do-we-d...

Why the fuck do people use AI for anything at all?

Oof. Yeah. Interesting looking game that just went flying off my wishlist at the speed of sound. And no, it's not for AI stuff. That avenue of investigation went nowhere.

Way what you like about this modern world (and I do have things to say!) but it's pretty cool to spend a day inventing and produce something that didn't exist until you decided it should. I needed an AUX input for my old car, so I made one.
