Sometimes fintech has zero tech. As in transferring shares between brokers feels like sending a fax with real people doing manual work (for 5-20 business days) on both ends with you in between.

Winter holidays were full of nazis for me. My first computer game was wolfenstein 3D. There was no 3D ofc. Anyway, this track is sick

Everytime you, as a maintainer, see an issue/PR where the OP attaches the pprof with a flame chart you start to pay attention even if you did not intend to at first

i havent posted anything anywhere in a super long time feels weird to shout into the void, but sometimes super cool convos or new friends come from doing that so Ill try to do a bit more posting/being involved again. prolly talk about the usual stuff, especially around zig/go/python/k8s ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I've been waiting a year this time to get my US visa to only get my passport lost by UPS when delivering it from Amsterdam to the Hague (as far as 50km) Luck levels are skyrocketing

Some things you come to appreciate only after you start using them. I remember being absolutely fine using the 1080p monitor until I got a 4K one, and magically, the grain on 1080p became so annoyingly visible. In @eda.dev Web UI everything is streamed via web sockets, so you never hit Refresh ->

And once you get used to a web UI that doesn't need to be refreshed and data just appears as it becomes available in the backend - you start to feel annoyed having to F5 things on other websites.

It is this time of the year when a bunch of us are working on the #SReXperts hackathon exercises that attendees gonna dig into. Starting in Tarragona, Spain, this June. I am leading the @eda.dev stream and, oh, boy, you are all in for a treat. We are skating to where the puck is going to be.

When relocating to EU 5 years ago one of the perks was having โ‚ฌ50 in your pocket and being able to book a RT flight from Amsterdam to Rome, Berlin, Madrid, Portu, Split. Surely, this never happened =)

Cisco Hyperfabric requiring a new NOS and hardware somewhat proves that fixing existing management stack on nxos for them is likely damn hard

Next week I'm taking talking a 7hrs train commute across two of the most developed EU member states. I dread this more than my flight to Sydney

Building cool networking labs that reach well beyond the networking boundaries and inviting application stacks to the lab playground is why we built @containerlab.dev With KinD and containerized NOSes we can build crazy things that fit in the low-end host just fine.

In hindsight, the YT's decision to remove downvotes was a net positive decision. Less hate waves going on while still providing the author with these metrics

The "hidden" @eda.dev treasure is that the "event-driven" in the name is not really about you creating automation based on events. But it is an inherent platform design pillar - everything is a signal, everything is streamed, and there is no poll.

This lets us create apps that stream the data in whatever format you want and to whatever sink you have. The pics above show how we can create a @prometheus.io endpoint for scraping time series, collect logs with syslog and stream events via pubsub (kafka). It is a paradigm shift worth going thru

I recently borrowed my corp Win laptop from my son to test the @containerlab.dev WSL distro. And, oh, boy, the default Start menu is a laughing stock.

I wonder if there is a technical challenge to allow people to get notifications for thread comments on bsky/linkedin/x/whatever You see an interesting thread and want to follow it, but you can't. Feels bonkers

4 hours ago I was about to have breakfast. But then I wanted to quickly check if I can make the debugpy work in a remote fashion with SR Linux CLI (which is python). 4 hours later I opened an issue in the debugpy repo hoping they could sniff smth from the logs ๐Ÿ™ˆ

When I see a non-junior neteng using PuTTY, I die inside a little. It is like you are a professional furniture assembler using the hexagon wrench found on the IKEA floor. And no, this is not the Turkish Olympic athlete kind of comparison.

Building this 30+ nodes cluster with Talos and Pulumi on openstack was fun. Learned a lot. Can't say that I use it much, but I definitely keep it :D Also why tf the control plane node #3 died?

Personal opinion: if you need Slack - pay for a pro version running a community on a free plan with a men-in-black-wipe-memory approach does more harm than good. Go Discord instead.

I share the sentiment that the CLI is dead only when your CLI sucks. We strive to make our CLI spark joy, so you'd rather bury something else. Like letting you write your own show commands, so that you take back control over the CLI for operational tasks

Easy to forget that on a macOS you are knee deep in the BSD relics. When I was trying to tshoot why I can't reach docker network in orbstack VM I got reminded about `pf` being a thing. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ How much easier would it be if macos used a Linux kernel, eh?

It it somewhat telling that Cisco Live EU this year has been sunset by NANOG in the networking coverage media I follow. Even 3 years ago I had to mute the CLEU hashtag to keep the thread not constantly updating, but since then it is like a local event
