Carl Quintanilla: Real average hourly earnings down 0.7% on the month, that's the sixth straight month... Jim Cramer: Look, rich people are making a lot of money. God, I sound like Marx. I really don't want to sound like Marx. It's just, look at the data.

IF the strike aircraft were driven out of RAF Fairford by an enemy threat, then that enemy has enjoyed more success than the Luftwaffe during the whole of the Battle of Britain.

So pleased to hear this confirmed in the PM’s speech. Big congrats to @makevotesmatter.bsky.social and all who’ve campaigned for it! At last we have a chance to restore trust in our politics with a system where “everyone’s views count and everyone’s vote matters” 👏👏👏

theguardian.comAndy Burnham expected to say he will push ahead with electoral reform plansExclusive: Labour conference speech will kick off process that could replace current system with proportional representation

The Burnham speech: firstly, it was a vision. We've not had a national vision for two decades at least. If he can persuade the country on fixing the EU relationship, political reform, establishing a new care system and his theory of growth holds then he will be a transformational Prime Minister.

Jason Arday's utterly sad death holds a stark mirror up to the dehumanising political-media-societal culture we are in – one we must all be honest about being complicit in – which forgets there is a human being at the centre of a story, a case study, an issue, a scandal. It is dehumanising.

Usually my A-Level results day post is to commiserate all the incoming LSE students for failing to get the required marks for Oxbridge, but since there are no 18 years old on this website to read my cruel mockery it hardly feels worth it.

Something happened in 1837, but it didn't last. Use of Vererbungsfähigkeit ('inheritance capacity' - not yet 'heritability') and Vererbung ('inheritance/heredity') in Austro-Hungarian agricultural journals.

The Green Party say they will not stand in the Clacton by-election either. Zack Polanski: "This is a desperate stunt from a desperate politician whose lifetime of grifting is finally catching up with him. Greens will play no part in his political circus"

Honestly I could see a possible loss for Farage here. Even if he wins, I hope to God that the standards committee investigation is just waiting ready for as soon as he is in. This, and we're going to win the world cup

I've been a critic of Nigel Farage but he makes a good point. Listening to this 30min rant, I've now realised Nigel is literally the most persecuted guy to ever live. Such a hero putting up with everything he's put up with. #SorryNige

Intrigued to hear Danny Kruger, of Reform UK, tell Any Questions that universities need to "change their business model". What would he suggest? Selling crypto? Acting as "brand ambassadors" for Direct Bullion? Recording videos saying "Up the Ra"? Or getting a billionaire to chuck us £5 million?

Woke 2.0 is caring about Affordability ( this is a direct entailment of William of Ockham's nominalism, a doctrine responsible for 75 billion deaths ) / sarcasm

As an adoptee, my earliest understandings of banal evil were caused by encountering the ways people were "just following orders [laws/rules]" whilst simultaneously experiencing the pain/consequences of unjust and poorly thought through laws. Interesting watching the state apologise now.

Honestly wild that one can dedicate one's life to education and public service but still get this treatment from Goodwin et al. I mean, like, I get it, I get how racism works. Whole point is making judgements independent of what you do or are like; content of your character! But still, wild to see.

This is a funny way of saying "Trump is so corrupt and evil that Nixon seems like an angel in comparison."

Climate breakdown is here. We must double down on efforts to decarbonise but that's not enough. We need new rights at work to protect us from climate danger - failing to act now will endanger workers' lives and cost our health service dearly.

Starmer hate is unjustified. He had a very difficult job, he navigated several complex issues without making things much worse - which could easily have happened - in very difficult circumstances. I hope what comes next is better. I am grateful for his service to the country.

& FWIW I say all of this with various deep criticisms of the man and his choices. The point is, look at the current world and our politics. Compare and contrast with Trump, Netenyahu, Farage... There are issues and we can do better, but we should also be grateful.

The attacks in Edinburgh, in which an armed bare-chested white man terrorised Muslims, leaving five people injured, don't feature on a single newspaper front page this morning. Two tier journalism

Nathan reposted

Let's be very clear that vicious anti Muslim hatred by politicians and their trillionaire mate Elon Musk create the conditions for this kind of vile attack. Sending huge solidarity to the Muslim community in Edinburgh and beyond.

Robinson came to see the U.S. audience as less savvy with suckers for religious nut-jobbery and a posh British accent with a dog collar so he branched out... American Media lapped it up. He eventually ended up doing a Nazi (eugenicists) Salute, ironically at a pro-life event.

He THEN started getting into grifting in the UK's conspiracy scene by LARPing as a Christian. Eventually becoming a "priest" in various heterodox sects. In the UK though, the Church is establishment, and if you're outside the CofE or Catholic Church it smells very fishy when you're wearing robes etc
