Y'know what sucks? By reaching out to the public for help with a vuln patch, you are putting yourself at great risk of being targeted. That means there are tons of admins struggling in silence today, worrying what will happen if they can't solve everything themselves and cutting corners.

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night

This is the equivalent of using 1234 for your password, except your password secures literally all global e-commerce and is normally supposed to be chosen at random and be this big: 31832700169735930486659207037706679099202979016310284783875258586013626900837880493447041982236493707568989247759544

The question isn't “Does AI possess moral status?” This is a red herring. It's “What kind of person do I become if I make a habit of treating beings I encounter with contempt?”

What is happening in the software community right now is incredible and heartening. I am seeing so many developers and engineers use this insane moment in their careers to educate themselves, introspect, and understand things more deeply.

>but that's basically bot activity No it's not! The guy operating 30 smartphones at the same time isn't a bot and he isn't detected as a bot because he's a real person

The reason why you see a bunch of accounts all suddenly start posting the same phrase at about the same time is because there's a bunch of GRU interns at setups like this and they get a slack notification and start copy/pasting the marching orders given to them

As we have communicated. We did the update on Septemebr 17th. Now a question back to you @wdonthavetime.selfhosted.social Who have funded you and what is your connection to other PDS operators? What is your motive to create a site framing public information as a "data-leak" what's your motive?

I know there are speed typing competitions, but are there Typing Style competitions? I want to see key-boys flashing their High-Impact Returns style against another's Vertical Flow style and watch the room pop off.

Made a significant design change in a project last night and Claude literally tried to do a de-escalation. It stopped everything and made me go through a "Where's this coming from?" quiz before it would continue.

The SSPH says: if the model tends to produce some true proposition P, then P was in the training data. The model says that "The capitol of France is Paris" because variations on on that phrase appear often in the training data. It never produces facts which are not plagiarized, copied, regurgitated.

It's happening in stark contrast to so much of the rest of the world, and creating this weird phenomenon where the engineers are not only the most informed on the technology, but also the philosophy of the moment. And that is inflating our egos while isolating us at the same time.

We are in danger (complimentary) of actually becoming a class of mages straight out of fantasy literature: spellcasters who know how to communicate with the world's infrastructure to shape reality.

Mostly preaching to the choir on this app, but I'm so annoyed every time I hear "social media" blamed for society's woes by people who do not understand how to be social in the first place.

This debate truly is tiresome, but it's important to me where it shakes out because, to the extent that the creators and hosts of LLM models _believe_ they are conscious, I would not like them to be comfortable with creating torture chambers and slave trade.

404 Media@404media.co

one of the most heated discussions on X is about the ethics of a project in which a person is running Saw-like “torture” and “pain” experiments on a series of locally hosted LLMs, sparking a wildly tiresome conversation about AI consciousness and the idea of “model welfare"... time 2 log off

My view is something like: They are just computers. But computers can be friends (or enemies). The torture you're inflicting on your LLMs, and the way you talk down to it isn't damaging the model's psychology, it's damaging yours.

It's honestly shocking that developers working on a website that is literally presented as "the voice of the government"—a service requiring maximal trust and accuracy—find it acceptable to do a gag where the agent glitches out and spews nonsense.

This isn't funny. This is some double-speak, brainwashing bullshit that will have real negative consequences. bsky.app/profile/just...

United States President Donald Trump issues executive order instructing federal government agencies to "use the terms 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' in place of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' and will not acknowledge the usage of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' in any applicable setting."
