SOUR CHERRY out April 2025 from Tin House (US) & Wildfire (UK).

📣 New novel announcement:
ANNA DREAMS OF A DEAD REVOLUTIONARY is coming from @tinhouse.bsky.social in 2028. When people ask what it's about, I say it's like SOUR CHERRY, except the haunted house is Greece, and Bluebeard is fascism. 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈✊
Keep writing your queer, trans, antifascist books, friends.
"And then, that held-breath pause until the dead found their way to us in fragments. Static on the phone, phantoms on TV screens, corrupted emails. Saying: Tell her. Tell him. Tell them I love them. Tell them I was murdered."
"Roams The Planet of Our Grief"

Clarkesworld gave me my first professional publication, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be in their 20yr anniversary issue. Happy birthday, @clarkesworldmagazine.com! And with one of my favourite stories, too: "Roams the Planet of Our Grief," where a trans boy talks to the dead. As one does.

Just finished the stunningly beautiful "Sour Cherry" by @natalia-theodoridou.com. I cannot possibly recommend this book more highly and I can't wait to see what he does to follow up this debut.
Since it's Pride month, I wanted to bring this up again. I'm a trans person trying to get the money to cover moving fees so I can get out of Florida and to a safer city. I've got some already, but any more help at all will be appreciated.

😳 SOUR CHERRY won the Locus Award for First Novel!! 😳 Thank you so much @locusmag.bsky.social and congratulations to all finalists and winners! I wish I could have been there with you all. 🚀💫🌗🍒
I'm only 40 pages into SOUR CHERRY by Natalia Theodoridou. I can already tell you, the writing is extraordinary. The kind of writing that makes many of us question what we're even doing calling ourselves writers. Elegant, laden, orchestral. I'm going to savor this. @nassos.bsky.social
when i wrote The Death of Mountains, i just wanted to write a book with a talking mountain and a talking death (many). and ask this:
"what is the point of living when death is standing on your shoulder?"
a finalist for: the Nebula Award, the Shirley Jackson Award, and the L.A. Times Book Prize
So!! Grief Eater is out on Monday!! (Tuesday for the US, sorry, we beat you to it!)
(Also if you haven’t seen my cover, holy shit, thank you Dante Luiz 🖤)
I’d love to answer some questions, please AMA 🥰
SOUR CHERRY by @nassos.bsky.social (Best Novel finalist)
Gorgeous prose, weird fairytale in all the best ways, intensely woven, exploring why we stay
Feels written not to explain to people who haven't experienced this way of living, but to hug those who have
Truly excellent

My 3rd Nebula review is @nassos.bsky.social’s dark debut novel. A retelling of the story of Bluebeard, this is a labyrinthine, complicated work. Its difficulty, no doubt, is intentional, meant to mirror the vagaries of trauma & abuse. Powerful & complex, but not for the faint of heart. #booksky
From our episode recorded today (this one scheduled to release on May 5th) Cylia & Erik talked our current reading piles. Here’s @erikgrove.com ‘s showing recently finished, current, and upcoming reads!
Please help get the word out that I am open for submissions.

I was not expecting to read anything this fortnight, but while sitting by my shelves to take a break I picked this up, and it didn't want to be put down
I loved the layering of fairy tale trappings and truths, and the rich, horrible sensory world

Tiny story day!
I didn't do this in March, but I'm back! Drop a comment in the thread and get a tiny story just for you. If you'd like a prompt, feel free to riff off of any sort of transportation.
I'll get to these through the rest of the month, and hopefully you'll get something fun to enjoy.
I could use a little help going into April. I’ve been waiting to get paid for over a month now, and I’m deep in the hole. I’ll make rent but there’s going to be nothing left over. Any help is appreciated: ko-fi.com/soniasulaima...
The Locus Awards Poll closes soon! You'll find SOUR CHERRY in the First Novel category, alongside incredible work by @bogiperson.bsky.social, @silviapark.bsky.social & so many more. Anyone can vote, add in any favourites the list has missed, and find something new to read. It's a win-win-win
Almost out of time! Vote by April 1 in the annual Locus Awards Poll & Survey to determine the winners of the 2026 awards (tickets available now)!
You can vote at poll.voting.locusmag... or via the link in our bio!
One of my favorite books of last year! I didn't think Bluebeard could grab me, but @nassos.bsky.social made the story haunting (both literally and figuratively).
Hugo nominations close soon, so remember to cast your ballots (Seattle Worldcon members, you can nominate this year too!). Sour Cherry is a Nebula finalist, a Crawford Award honoree, and on the Locus Recommended Reading list (all of which still blows my mind)
