I saw this in person at the Hell, Ink & Water show. It was my favorite.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

NEW: Ingram, Texas, was just rebuilding from a devastating flood when its tiny police department enrolled in ICE’s 287(g) deportation program. Within a year, cops would hand over the equivalent of 10% of the town. with @nytimes.com

What are your favorite PHP apps from the past? What did you build with? PHPNuke? phpBB? Joomla? The wild days of the young web!

“why wouldn’t the internet archive be using the latest php” probably the same reason my sonos speakers are like a decade old, they get the job done and would expensive and laborious to update and i am not a billion dollar company

I think the underrated part is where the risk moves. With static output, a vulnerable dependency lives in the build rather than on a running server, so patching becomes a rebuild and a deploy instead of a scramble to find out what was exposed.

The category is: songs whose first two sung notes are exactly an octave apart. Examples are: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "The Christmas Song" ("Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."). Other examples, please?

It's a key part of conservative ideology: "I have no obligations to you and I can treat you however I like, but you are required to love me."

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

Also cool is that I built this mostly (except the microphone) with old tech I already had. An important consideration given the terrible everything.

I've been taking some of my frustration with the death of my industry out on home-automation and #selfhosted projects. Yesterday I built one of these (this isn't my article, it just gave me the idea) and it's the most immediately gratifying build I've ever done. jasontucker.blog/how-i-turned...
