If nothing else, pretty amazing Canadian PM Carney said the quiet part out loud today: international law has never been real and the ‘rules’ of the international order have never applied to the US and its allies. This may indeed be the actual death of neoliberalism. globalnews.ca/news/1162087...

Wait so, men and women can’t share spaces “because it is unsafe”, so a trans man can’t go in the men’s room because he “is not a man”, but he can’t go in the women’s room because “he looks like a man”, so he needs a segregated “mixed sex room” that men and women will *safely* share IM SORRY WHAT?!

Something I learned from interviewing survivors of abuse and institutional betrayal is that by being willing to identify a problem, you are often treated as the problem. The institution will try to get rid of you instead of the problem. To me, this also speaks to the way the left is treated broadly

People might think that whatever destruction is done to science in the US, we can undo in 4 years with a Democratic president and Congress. The problem is that many areas require specialized knowledge and skills built up over years, and once that's lost, it's hard to get back.
