The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

erininthemorning.comDon’t Vote For The Worst Anti-Trans DemocratsThe Democratic Party should, and likely will, win big in the midterms. We must not send the worst anti-trans voices to join them.

Oof... this is also the book that had so little content, even padded out with old comics, that it had to be printed on cardboard like a baby book. I wonder what the new edition's like

Oh, shit. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

Using AI for cover art is something I though I'd never see Spiegelman and Mouly do. Their magazine Raw was a big part of why I was attracted to this punishing art form... this sucks!!

And scams are a huge part of everything now. Education, government, culture, everything has scam elements. Our whole society is built on scamming and grifting.

I’m telling you that the extreme exposure to scams is a big part of the reason so many people are negative about our economic future.

Most of these game studios are not closing because they're not PROFITABLE. They're closing because they're not showing GROWTH. The system of investor capitalism is ruining literally everything you care about.

the big thing the rise of LLMs has revealed to me is that there is a not insignificant chunk of the population that considers cognition itself to be a frustrating and unnecessary burden

the blood and soil guys are right to some extent. your heritage and birthright are being forcibly threatened by violent thugs. and that heritage and birthright is called a secular multicultural democracy with vague pretensions towards egalitarianism and lawful order

Sam Altman said people are just gonna have to die in order to implement AI. In the very same week, Anthropic claimed it’s a human rights violation to be mean to the computer. These people need to be held accountable. They think lines of code are a person with rights but living people are debris.

The Verge@theverge.com

Over the past year, Anthropic has repeatedly flirted with the idea that its AI models could be conscious in some way. In February, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said on a podcast, “We don’t know if the models are conscious.”

we live in an era of mimics, doppelgängers, automata and inversions — an entire culture of dreadful, skinsuited parodies tyrants who speak of freedom, killers who brag of peace, thieves who promise plenty

Maybe it's the Chinese government using propaganda to trick people into thinking their parents are bad? Surprised they're not suggesting this yet

The most psychotic possible framing of this archive.is/202609271858...

Men are encouraged to be lousy, completely deficient fathers in our society. My son and I laugh about all the dads we’ve seen ignoring their kids so they can stare at their all-important phones

Jess Calarco@jessicacalarco.com

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

The son yelling “Dad! Dad!” as he throws a frisbee… the dad, looking at phone, turning away as the frisbee sails over his head…. Or the dad whose toddler son is engaging with an aggressive swan, turning away to look at phone as alarmed strangers step in to protect the child…

My son was filling me in on the real Chris Hansen’s reactions to it, which include acting offended that the director didn’t want his input, insinuating the director is a pedo, going to a Times Square screening to berate audience members into saying the film was unfair to him, and just generally…

The media: You people on the left, you need to hear opposing voices! You need to to appreciate the other side! Also the media: People on the left don't like data centers/AI because they're stupid and/or Chinese dupes. They think the economy is bad because they read it online. They're deluded idiots

We just found out a friend of my wife, a really successful musician, just moved to England suddenly. It was because his wife, an American citizen but partly of Asian extraction, was swept up in an ICE raid on an Asian grocery. They let her go, but...

... she also has a British passport and decided she had to leave the USA immediately. She told her husband, "I hope you are coming with me, but I need to leave this country NOW." So, they went.
