Electronics: pulses tuned to a stack of open fifths, one per rand of South African payroll, euro cent of French payroll and $10 of US payouts. Percussion is hand-recorded taps and knocks, working like a chart axis: you hear time pass.

Strings: 1 bar = 1 quarter, Q1 2015 to Q1 2026, at 52 BPM. Payment speed was sorted into nine bands, each with its own rhythm: the faster invoices got paid, the shorter the opening note and the busier the bar. Volume = average invoice size, pp to ff.

Good news! The current lack of transparency about UK land ownership is ridiculous.

Guy Shrubsole@guyshrubsole.bsky.social

Huge win! Government announces plans to open up the Land Registry. If delivered, will finally reveal more about who owns land in England and Wales. Read my blog post for more details & how you can write to the Minister to make sure this now happens: whoownsengland.org/2025/03/06/h... 🧵1/

The main advantage, apart from less faff and finger strain, is that the AI has access to your full environment, so knows what’s in your dataframe, what objects you’ve created etc. No more long queries that start ‘I have a dataframe, df’ 😂

Old post but I just joined Bluesky so here you go ❤️

The minute we decided to cover research about folk songs with Scientific American’s Graphic Science treatment, I knew I wanted to see what Duncan Geere & Miriam Quick from the podcast/collab Loud Numbers would cook up. Here’s the result www.scientificamerican.com/article/hidd... 🧪📊

“In a visually-dominant culture, sound can mobilize inanimate data into affective experience that resonates beyond the intellect, bypassing typical information processing, giving voice to the unheard.” @noahpred.bsky.social’s article on sonification is a must-read 👇 manifest.audio/signal-001-w...

Thanks also for the shout out to our work at Loud Numbers. If you’re an Ableton user, do check out Sonification Tools by Manifest Audio, which makes sonification *so* much more accessible and easier than the many code-based tools out there.

You are up to date.
