Are they right to do so? I don’t know. Sometimes subsequent events reveal they made a mistake. More often they can’t certainly know. But don’t dismiss the weight on their shoulders.

This is really important to understand. Some of the people “bending the knee to Trump” are in fact doing what they feel they must to protect people and institutions they love from the vast (and increasingly unreviewable) power of the President of the United States.

NPR - Health departments around the country have noticed there's something strange happening with funding from the CDC: It's not showing up on schedule and there's been no communication about why.

After getting blocked the first time, Sen. Mike Lee is revising his land grab plan and trying to sneak it back into the “Big 💩 Bill.” The new proposal would force the sale of up to 1.2 million acres of public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

Trump: “Schumer, our great Palestinian senator. He's changed. He used to like Jewish people. Now he's totally against Jewish people. It's the most incredible transformation I think I've ever seen.” This is insane. Why is the media treating Trump as if he’s a normal president?

If you’re a billionaire, you can buy a dinner in DC with the president. You can secure government contracts like Elon, and even purchase a pardon. If you’re a veteran who needs healthcare? If you’re a parent who counts on SNAP to help feed their family? Nothing.

To prove his loyalty to Trump he’s fired FBI leaders, targeted and threatened agents, and removed agents from domestic security and child abuse investigations. Congress should be investigating Bove’s actions at DOJ, not considering him for a judicial nomination.

"Let’s be clear: this is not normal. It is not acceptable. And it is not compatible with a functioning democracy."

Federal and local law enforcement wearing masks is just plain unamerican. It’s a cowards move, and shows the fact that the kinds of deportations happening and the methods are, shameful and unpopular. adamkinzinger.substack.com/p/why-are-fe...

Unacceptable.

“I promise you, it would have been a war crime.” that’s what Alejandro Barranco told me what would have happened if he treated a detainee when he was deployed to Afghanistan with the Marines like federal agents treated his father.

When it became clear Roe would be overturned, we had a choice – give up, or fight back. Alongside so many of you, I chose to stand up, to speak out, and to fight. This is what I said on the Senate floor:

It’s deeply disturbing that FAA Administrator nominee Bryan Bedford refuses to commit to upholding the 1,500-hour pilot training standard.   After the DCA crash and surge in near-misses, now is NOT the time to weaken flight training requirements for pilots.   I’ll be voting no.

The National Park Service is already underfunded and understaffed. To put its budget on the chopping block as we continue to see a rise in visitors at parks across the county is reckless and thoughtless. It's the worst idea for "America's Best Idea."

While bombing Iran is bad for Trump’s poll numbers, starting a war and creating chaos is good for Trump as an authoritarian. Authoritarians exploit chaos to claim emergency powers, deploy the military domestically, and undermine free and fair elections. These attacks must be viewed from this lens.
