Started Beginners’ Polish classes tonight and am very tempted to casually drop intense lyrics of old patriotic Polish songs (the few smatterings of vocabulary with which I’m confident) into casual exchanges. 🇵🇱
*dreamy harp intro*
Teacher (said in Polish): For next class, you should be comfortable with these variations of ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’.
Me (sung in Polish, standing on the desk, waving a crowned white eagle flag like I’m in a Pole-ified version of Les Mis): SO HELP US GOD!
*dreamy harp outro*
"They just want to turn it off." A fascinating story of the librarians who have started teaching classes showing people how to remove AI "features" from their phones and apps.

The phrase “Do not invent facts.” implies a lack of comprehension regarding what a fact is which makes the prompt meaningless. But, don’t worry, I wasn’t seeking meaning in all of this madness. 👨💻

They’re packaging it like this so it looks like a shallow trend, but Gen Z has gone through two financial crises, a pandemic, rising fascism, active shooter drills since they were toddlers, and are now being told by the oligarchy they’re to be replaced by robots. Socialism is the logical conclusion.
It looks like everyone had a good time at UKGE… as a Canadian unlikely to be at Gen Con or PAX Unplugged any time soon, I might need to pencil it in for 2027…
happy pride, shoutout as always to the 1978 gilbert baker pride flag which had pink and turquoise stripes for SEX AND MAGIC AND ART, and in this house we support gay sex and gay magic and gay art
If you’ve been wanting to design your own TTRPG, here’s my advice for you. Its honestly pretty simple.
(I almost want to start a « Make it small. Make it fun. Make it for you » game jam based in this idea
I keep seeing "all authors use AI, the real issue is they're being forced to be sneaky about it" headlines.
Full stop No. This is a lie peddled for normalization. It's schoolyard-level pressure tactics "C'mon, all the cool kids are already doing it. We won't tell. It's fine. We're on your side."
Hey!! I asked your mom and she said it was ok for you to join the #RomantasyTTRPG jam! Whether you are a new or experienced designer, come make a romance/fantasy game with us!!! itch.io/jam/romantas...
As someone who painstakingly handcodes HTML emails to look good, I want to slap the person who decided to make so-called Advanced Typography (“Smart” Justification and Hyphenation) pre-enabled on Microsoft Outlook.
Two consecutive weekends of feeling stupid proud of and blessed by living in Toronto, home to a pretty awesome game-designing and -playing community. 🎲📝🤓
"DnD is a gateway drug" carries with it the less-than-subtle implication that there are other TTRPGs that are harder, more addictive, and less accessible.
Wandered out of the rooms of nerds with dice to see nerds in costumes on the street… I love this city… now I just need to find some Furnal Equinox-ers to complete the experience.
Got to play a couple of episodes using this awesome sitcom engine… WITH Avery. It’s another @breakoutcon.bsky.social miracle. My good vibes cup overfloweth… and there are 3 more days!!!
Going For Broke is now available! This is a lightweight, pick-up-and-play sitcom roleplaying game about a collective house scrambling to make rent. It's designed for 4-8 players, only takes 40-70 minutes, and fits in your back pocket!

Playtesting and playing games run by their designers is one of my favourite aspects of Breakout. Exploring @leafydragongames.bsky.social‘s Burnword was a delight.
Feels like there are fewer non-game-table locations to sit at this year’s @breakoutcon.bsky.social … probably a hotel-driven choice, but it certainly makes for a less comfortable experience to sort your goodies, or just chill between games, standing or on the floor.
I want everyone to know that when I say things like "Godspeed" or "thank God" I'm not being Christian about it. It's just faster to type that and convey the same message as "AlanisMorissettespeed".
