there doesn't have to be an end goal you can just make useful things for people who want to use them, and live a happy life

A casual cafe “third place” with NA drinks, cozy reading nooks, rooms for table top games, and a co-working style membership access. Basically, a relaxed place to hang out alone or with others that’s not defined by work, alcohol, or stimulants.

Take a break from the discourse and quote this with a business you would want to start if you could afford to lose money on it

While fixing a random 503 error, I randomly discovered the pricing and signup options were not showing on mobile... since I migrated the site to Astro some time last year... whoops. Even had left myself a todo to check all mobile pages. 😬

It’s so frustrating that there is this illusion that we are all 49%/49% right now. Us versus them, good versus bad, and it’s all because of the BS that is the electoral system. It’s very likely 70% versus 30% and we’re just not seeing representative government. There’s just no common sense right now

Turn off the podcasts and music, stop scrolling and put down the phone. Take a walk, draw a bath, or sit still in a comfy chair. Good ideas come when you let your mind wander.

You know that thing that happens in the summer where someone starts mowing their lawn and then, suddenly there are a dozen people outside mowing their lawns? I love that the same thing happens in the winter in Wisconsin with snow blowers. Midwestern siren call

First attempt at from scratch simple non-dairy biscuits. Turned out great and pretty easy/quick to make. Subbed Melt stick for butter and Daiya cashew milk.

I had a monthly recurring charge that I left going for YEARS as I couldn’t figure out if anything was still using it

Some first stats back from a new abandoned cart feature I tested with a single customer last month: 22 orders recovered $1363 gross 70% of recovered orders occurred within 2 hours of notification Should I charge extra for this feature? Currently, it will be included on mid to higher plans.

Some good ideas here. My dream has always been to have enough money to put things out in the world that I want to exist, without the need for them to be profitable. Someday. 😅

If you didn’t need to make money, what would be your dream small business to run?

Really good hack to battle test the things you build: Publish a video to show it off. Bugs. UX. Slowness. Bloat. It all gets exposed when the camera's rolling. Once you can record in 1 take, you're ready to ship.

Whoever succeeds at making an AI that knows the difference between what’s real and made up wins Tough problem though, even humans struggle with this

Anyone looking for a fractional CTO / startup coach? A guy I know and trust has got a few more slots to fill. DM me for contact info. Reposts for reach appreciated. 🙏🏻

TIL that the contact form on my marketing site has been classifying all entries as SPAM for who knows how long 🤦 Also finding that Make has max history of 30 days and no bulk export. Oof.

hmm, I had 70+ people in a starter pack and now there are around 20. Are people removing themselves or am I breaking it somehow when I add new people?

Curating a new starter pack to find fellow MicroConf folks. If you've been a part of MicroConf, past or present, and want to be added give me a shout. Already added everyone that listed a public bluesky link in the Connect Slack. go.bsky.app/N5QjxG

Always, always talk to your customers. My VA has been manually preparing a detailed, personalized monthly report for mid-tier+ customers. In prep for starting to automate parts of it, sent a survey out to see what to focus on... Turns out, very few even care about the report at all 😅
