You've got to keep your hand in. Still surviving the mean streets of The Donx.

Was interviewed for a comms job at the council ages back and, seeing how they work over the years and the woeful comms around the airport, I have kind of been forever grateful that I didn't get it.

Doncaster Council using AI to generate an image of its own council chamber has given me a chuckle today Aside from the talking bin, the proportions are off and computer screens phasing through the desk Why not just put the talking bin in an actual picture of the chamber? 😂

Presumably it will mean no bands from Ireland, so no U2. Which is a win I think.

GB News is launching GB Music Radio, a 24-hour digital station only playing artists from Great Britain and Northern Ireland, on 2 November. Chief revenue officer Ross Sergeant said this "gives advertisers something genuinely new". radiotoday.co.uk/2026/10/gb-m...

I've realised why I find Guy Garvey so infuriating on the radio. It's because he'll make every conversation about himself. It's painful listening to him interview someone, as every response prompts some long ramble about him, his life, his family, his experiences. I've had to turn the radio off.

I don't care who Sally Rooney gives her money to but I'm sure I'll cope without her boring, turgid, self-indulgent novels for navel-gazing millennials who can't talk face-to-face with a fellow human. Easily the most over-hyped writer of the last couple of decades.

People accusing the residents of Piddington of being Nazis or whatever seem completely oblivious to the fact they're your good, old-fashioned Lib Dem Nimbys, who absolutely agree with more housing and reservoirs and infrastructure and even asylum seekers, just not near them thank you very much.

I have no strong opinions on Ed Sheeran and the thing that happened, whatever it was. I'm sorry, I just don't. I wasn't even able to finish the article about the thing that happened because, well, it's Ed Sheeran and even his name sends me to sleep.

The Reading Festival was full of beered/drugged up Northern kids in the early 1990s. I know as I was one of them. You put your life in God's hands and hoped for the best.

Peter Walker@peterwalker99.bsky.social

How to let people know you never went to Reading in your youth without etc etc. I have no idea what it's like now, but back in the day it was reliably the most feral of festivals.

Has anyone considered that all of this political nonsense we’ve been going through the last few years has happened since Larry the Cat has been around? I’m not saying it’s the cat’s fault but…y’know. (This account has not been taken over by a dog).

Politics UK@politicsuk.com

Earlier tonight, we posted that Larry the Cat had died We can confirm this is not the case. Our post was based on false information from a reliable source that had been hacked Larry is still alive and well!

I should go for a walk or at least go out and do something productive, but it’s Saturday and if I want to sit here eating sausage rolls and watching YouTube then you can’t stop me.

Emily Wilson not proving me wrong on this one.

Mark@markymarkymarkmark.bsky.social

My opinions on Emily Wilson are torn between thinking she’s an Oxbridge nepo-baby posho who gatekeeps the classics, or just one of them really annoying people who’ve read the book of the film you’re watching and huffily goes ‘well, THAT didn’t happen in the book’ every two sodding minutes.

Having got bored of showing me posts of people who have lost their pets, Bluesky now thinks I am interested in what Arsenal and Newcastle United fans have to say. I am not.

Whoever advised the BBC that advert with Romesh Ranganathan was a good idea needs to be looking for another job. I’d rather the BBC lose its charter than ever see that fucking advert ever again.

Feel like I’ve been watching the same England team since 2002. Pass it around the opposition box a bit, fail to find a way through, pass back to the halfway line. Repeat. Last manager we had who tried to make us play was Hoddle.

Another one for my list of insane things Americans have said during the World Cup. This may be #1.

Seth Abramson@sethabramson.bsky.social

If you're an England fan pretending that goal was legal because England is your team, never again ask an American how Donald Trump became president. He became president because humans lose their morals and perspective the *second* their emotions and biases get involved. Period.

Farage isn’t going to spend the summer campaigning against a bin. He’s absolutely going to quit completely claiming he’s ‘proved his point’ or he’s going to do a runner to the USA.

My hot take on Farage is that the other parties aren’t putting up candidates not just because they don’t want to be part of his stunt, but because they realise how much trouble he’s in and that he’s looking at police investigations and not just parliamentary ones.

Obviously it’s immensely satisfying to see pictures of Ronaldo crying, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that he’ll still be crying off camera in the dressing room and possibly in his hotel room and maybe even on the flight home

ITVX is absolutely fucking unwatchable and unusable at times. It’s 2026 and ITV still can’t create a streaming app that works with any sort of stability or consistency.

Some people think Farage is going to call a by-election to circumvent the standards investigation. That’s not how it works. The investigation would continue but any punishment would likely be harsher for trying to circumvent it. It’s almost as if they considered some MPs might try this.

Reject trumpist & fifa corruption, RETVRN to Original Rules Football (half of a whole working class town against the other half, played over several miles on Pancake Day, you're allowed to shank your neighbour if you write an apology to the pope, chance of the game starting a 6 month civil war)

Miami's the second most visited US city by British tourists after New York. And 45% of Brits have been to the US, so a big chunk of England fans will have been there before. I think they'll be fine.
