finally, the Ouya's time is here

one of those retro android companies needs to just make a little android box for the TV and we're done! that's all the console I need, honestly..

I'm for judicial term limits because it will normalize presidents' appointments, but I don't support forced retirement, for the same reason. We should elect 20-somethings to the House to shake loose the gerontocracy, but it's fine, almost preferable, that Supreme Court Justices are comically old.

I have a chronic disease that w/o daily treatment could kill me within days. In my lifetime, that treatment went from 6 injections per day to a device in my pocket that automatically adjusts micro-doses and needs refilling every 2-3 days. Still a nightmare existence, but boy how it's improved.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

As the MN-based developer of Blippo+, I'm hoping this boosts the local economy. $2! Cheap!

Watching "The Traitors" and maybe I'm missing something but it seems the best strategy would be to always recruit people already under suspicion and set to be banished next. The faithfuls seem to make the most progress after they mistakenly banish a faithful, so this would short-circuit that, no?

The reverse strategy for the faithful is to never banish any person you *know* is a traitor. Doing that leaves you with the same risk but way less information. This is a hard game theory to implement because it requires sacrificing people, but you lose a faithful anyway when they become a traitor.

"There's a point where [...] Valve is going to need to spend a tiny fraction of [their] billions and take a more active role in policing its own shopfront" Thank you, @lukeplunkett.com, for saying it plain.

Devs shouldn't have to be protecting their games, Valve should be protecting its shopfront: aftermath.site/steam-indie-ga...

Honestly: fine. Games should be bought mostly sight unseen. Slop clones are a natural conclusion of a data/metrics/reviews-obsessed market. Gamers need to get comfortable risking $10 on something not knowing if they'll like or not, and not treat it like a consumer rights violation if they don't.

"Unlike Fielder’s past work, 'You Can See Everything' isn’t very funny at all." Critical reaction to this movie has been taken in by Fielder's now-complete mastery of deadpan. At my screening, people were laughing so often and so loud that important dialogue was missed. It *is* a comedy.

The most annoying thing about this was how completely obvious it was to anyone with a modicum of news literacy, and watching everyone on Bluesky fall for it anyway.

Happy birthday to Dr. Mae Jemison, the first Black woman to travel in space, who began her communications to NASA with "Hailing frequencies open"β€”and guest starred in Star Trek: The Next Generation's "Second Chances."

I'm sure I'll be in the minority on this but "You Can See Everything" is so much itself a magic trick that it begins to lose its power to comment on magic tricks. Fantastic craft, regardless. Everybody is right about that.

There's a undercurrent of undisclosed cynicism in how it's made (and how it's been marketed) that worries me, because of how good it is as a narrative film. The thing that I wonder if people will notice is just how much it plays out exactly like everything else Nathan Fielder has "documented."

I'm not kidding about it being an excellent narrative film. It's thrillingly paced, has Oscar-worthy editing, and earns its bloated runtime. But it's not a documentary, not even in the postmodernist sense that it presents itself.

So we fly a pride flag in our front yard in a very conservative neighborhood and it’s been there for the last few years. Someone put this in our mailbox and my goodness…

"The History of Concrete" was very good, but a bit thin and overlong. I also can't believe it has 4 credited producers. It makes the lengthy digressions into how hard it is for artists to get unusual work financed less sympathetic to me, an artist currently trying to get unusual work financed.

"'Heroes'" is a strange record, in that its lead single is a mainstream pop masterpiece, but the rest of the record is a total fever-dream, more diverse musically than the "structurally weird" Low, and not as "confidently weird" as the honed-in Lodger. It's so relaxed but it never settles down.
