HSBC quarterly pre-tax profits surge 32% to $9.6bn (£7.14bn). Banks receive bailouts, subsidies, pay measly return to savers, hike charges, rely on the state as lender of the last resort but threaten retaliation if taxed. Must levy windfall tax.

This is what putting South Carolina first looks like. I’m honored to have the support of two former governors — Republican David Beasley and Democrat Jim Hodges. We may not agree on everything, but we share a belief that matters most: S.C. deserves leaders who will always put its people first.

It's nearly 20 years since the Stern report. It would be interesting to figure out how much the fossil fuel industry has spent on lobbying in that time and how many deaths -- like the ones in this report -- may be linked in some way to climate change.

Interested that there is pushback and so on about this advice - what with the levels of Russian sabotage going on across Europe and the speed the weather is become more severe due to climate change, it seems eminently sensible. In-laws in Sweden have been getting this advice for a few years now.
