NEW: Remedy's latest game, Control Resonant, is filled with art galleries. The galleries are filled with real art When I began talking to Remedy about it, I was delighted to discover who the artists are: many are the game developers' parents My story... www.gamefile.news/p/control-re...

gamefile.newsWho made the art inside Control Resonant? When the developers of Control Resonant needed to fill their video game version of New York City with art galleries, they tapped the talents of people they knew particularly well

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

Painful review of the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle on Steam that really highlights how destructive the continue system was to people's perception of arcade games. The beat 'em ups mentioned play wildly different from one another if you're actually trying to survive on 1 credit.

the idea phase is the easiest and least valuable part of professional creativity. read the first draft of the first Star Wars if you doubt me Great art is made in the grinding, often miserable collision between the ethereal substance of an idea and the mud and blood and friction of reality

This is another reason why AI losers have gotten into retro decomp/recomp projects. Nobody wants to play AI slop games, so they have to reinforce the value of AI by producing something desirable, which in this case is just repackaging the work of actual talented people.

zagawee@zachisagardner.bsky.social

just wanted to share something i discovered the amount of games released in 2022 compared to this year has increased by 77%. I use 2022 because that marks the last year before AI really took over the internet whats crazy to me is that the amount of games with ZERO REVIEWS has ALMOST TRIPLED. ZERO?

People using AI to reverse engineer games to then turn around and publish clones is straight up theft. Why is anyone pretending otherwise? The only thing genAI is good at making is fucking talentless thieves. Prosecute the lot of them. Sue them to hell.

Also worth noting that Tim Sweeney talks about C and C++, and more importantly, about 2D and 3D, almost as if one was made obsolete by the other, and not that those things coexist on the same plane, with one just being a fad when it first gained prominence

Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

I cleared #The_King_of_Dragons on #Default difficulty using just a single credit! Aka a 1 credit clear! Full run in the replies! I estimate that this took about 15 - 20 hours. I did only light save state practice and mainly played runs. #1cc #Arcade

Saw someone publicly admit that they haevn't tried the Hyper Bun Buster demo & haven't wishlisted it yet and was frankly shocked & disgusted that such fucking....people still exist and walk among us

My thoughts exactly! One of the biggest reasons for the hate on wolverine is that it made the contradiction between aesthetics(hardcore, gamer, manly, brutal, etc) and the actual gameplay(pandering, shallow, braindead, etc) inherent to almost all action games just a little too obvious, imo

Boghog@boghogstg.bsky.social

Wolverine's game design was a little too real for people. They play games that are essentially the same thing but they dress it up very slightly better, letting them pretend that they're not playing condenscending automated slop

A new version of ChatGPT is about to drop. Academics like @alexhanna.bsky.social and Emily Bender have been pointing out for literal years that these scare tactics about how powerful and scary AI is actually work as marketing. At this point, being this gullible is a choice.

Eric Lipton NYT@ericlipton.nytimes.com

OpenAI’s top scientist, in a blog post on Sunday, warns that artificial intelligence is evolving so rapidly that it is becoming increasingly difficult for humans to understand and control it. Here is the post: openai.com/index/an-ali... And a couple of small excerpts--clear warnings.

But also, that's not the "crux of the debate". AI is NOT "doing mimicry" nor is it "doing reasoning"

I was trying to get through to one of the staff of this site yesterday but like, this is psychosis. The people who run this site think AI is alive. How do you come back from this
