Hello, we are humbly asking for your help as a tiny indie studio of currently 2 people! We are trying to get eyes on our latest game since we do not have a presence on Xitter, and we are up against a deluge of AI slop during NextFest: #indiegame #gamedev store.steampowered.com/app/5103900/...

Unfairly overlooked game

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Switch) digital release is 57% off at Walmart: bit.ly/4eTGHEL #ad $17.22 lowest price ever (except that one price error years ago)

This is another reason why AI losers have gotten into retro decomp/recomp projects. Nobody wants to play AI slop games, so they have to reinforce the value of AI by producing something desirable, which in this case is just repackaging the work of actual talented people.

zagawee@zachisagardner.bsky.social

just wanted to share something i discovered the amount of games released in 2022 compared to this year has increased by 77%. I use 2022 because that marks the last year before AI really took over the internet whats crazy to me is that the amount of games with ZERO REVIEWS has ALMOST TRIPLED. ZERO?

Ending a Twitch username in "ttv" is like calling it an ATM machine: it is semantically just fine, but the pedant in me wants to poke at it a bit.

I just want everybody to know that I played the Alice in Wonderland game for the CD-i last night and I think I saw the face of god. Probably gonna check out Laser Lords soon.

Cool. Did you know that the creator of Below the Root on Apple II went on to make an Alice in Wonderland game in the same engine, then years later ported it to the CD-i with neat art, as well as making another game in the same engine, Laser Lords, an adventure game set in space? You can just play it

personally think if the line is going to be โ€œno gen ai in anythingโ€ then the you might have to consider divesting from AAA games entirely because this is just what the industry is now, whether they admit it so publicly or not

I shit you not, every single day I read about retro video games and discover the names of 5 more video games I've never heard of that the mere description threatens to rip my fucking face off. I'm set for life. If the AAA industry wants to burn to the ground, I couldn't possibly give less of a shit.

I looked into it and there's like a lot of old games. I'll get back to you with numbers later. If they start making games bad, I can play all of the old ones. Those are still good.

This is how culture dies. Games made by nobody, for an audience of nobody, remembered by nobody, built on the bones of great artists who came before. This is the last act of a dying civilization that forgot what it means to be human, if it ever actually was.

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Making a sort of bootleg kimchi-jjigae with only half of the right ingredients, real experimentation hours out here.

For how little effort I put in, I'd make it and eat it every day tbh. It was very good. I made too much. Then I ate too much. But otherwise, great experience!

About a month ago, powmia99 discovered a way to trigger arbitrary code execution fully standalone in Animal Crossing GameCube with nothing but a controller. This was confirmed by Cuyler and I to work on vanilla hardware and we now have a setup that makes it 100% consistent.

If you can afford to spend $100m to buy legislation, you have proven why you should be taxed. If there was an ounce of justice in the world, he would be taxed twice as much punitively.

What a piece of shit

People making fun of the fash rebrand of AI to SI aren't wrong, but I'm over here cheering for the hopeful SEO correction to allow me to go back to researching AI/ML without all the genAI slop getting in the way.

I really can't get past the idea that if I had unlimited time to make my dream game, I think I'd ultimately end up just remaking Might & Magic VIII. It really is kinda just the perfect video game in so many ways.

The reason we have all these Claude-built recomp/decomp projects is because the AI dorks couldn't figure out how to shoehorn LLMs into games that were made 20 years ago so they all got together and had their agents do a little brainstorming and came up with a strategy to ruin yet another good thing.

Zero. The answer is zero. There is no amount of playing Ace Attorney or Professor Layton that could ever make this game make sense.

As of today, the CDC has changed (reverted) their Covid guidance to make the vaccine recommended for all people over 18. In addition to being a smart public health move, this recommendation also means insurance must cover it. Read more here: www.cdc.gov/covid/hcp/va... Listen to a breakdown here:
