and honestly, it was easier than trying to set up other social logins, when I really _really_ do not want to store email addresses for buildplates.fyi.

Optional accounts are live on buildplates.fyi! Sign in with Bluesky or another AT Protocol account to keep track of your print queue and submissions across devices. Browsing and submitting anonymously still work. buildplates.fyi/account

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night

Ok, well, I created a @roomy.space for the forces of Sauron. I'll set up some automation, but for now, like this post and I'll check your current faction and send you an invite via DM!

@middleearth.quest so, hypothetically, if I want an item someone else has to go to my faction, i should win a skirmish against them and 1. Hope they drop it 2. Hope we roll for it and someone on my faction rolls a 20?

I got paid, and I’m going to play pickleball tonight. Today is a good day.

Dear IC Engineers: Sometimes I ask your Managers or Directors for date commitments on things. You come later and tell me that you weren’t consulted for that date. This is not the problem. If you don’t keep those people in the loop, or trust them to commit your team, that’s the problem.

And like, that’s a big problem! But the time for me to find that out is not the day before, especially when I know that you’ve known about that commitment for weeks.

(Nothing has happened at work to trigger this thread. But I am asking people for date commitments, and seeing the future).

🤔In 2013, Andreesen invested in Curtis Yarvin along with Peter Thiel. 🤔In 2014, Andreesen was promoting the nonsense ideas from Yarvin's neoreactionary writings, publicly, on Twitter. 🤔In 2016, Thiel and friends funded Trump becoming president. 🤔Biden wasn't even elected until 2020.🤡

The famous investor Marc Andreessen has said the Biden administration pushed him to the political right, but sources say his grievances don't always match reality.

More science for the #3dprinting community!

New on buildplates.fyi / willitstick.fyi: a large-object warp test (beta) The standard test tells you whether a filament grips a plate. It can't tell you whether a part as long as your bed stays flat. The new test does.

“but they remember things” nope! llms do not remember anything. the chatbot has an app layer between you and it that stores “memories” aka database records, and injects them into the conversation in a way that is hidden from you not unlike a data broker + a phone scammer

I think I’m going to migrate this account to my @tranquil.farm PDS this weekend. I’ve started using @witchsky.app which supports tranquil’s passkey login, and it’s gone well on the alts I’ve set up so far.

Alright, I now have a fork and supporting services to do push notifications. I’m a happy camper now.

Her Apollo software was built to expect the unexpected, and on Apollo 11 it recognized an overload mid-landing and kept the critical tasks running. Every postmortem, every bug tracker, every “let’s make sure this never happens again” carries a little of her in it. Thank you Margaret Hamilton. 🚀

Okay frick it, I'm announcing the project I've been working on. It's called Reams, a markdown editor that syncs over atproto spaces. It works offline, doesn't require a login, and has a bunch of features packed in. Try it at reams.ink, install the PWA for the best experience!

this is why I’ll always have a printer with multiple nozzles/toolheads. printing supports in materials that don’t fuse to each other is such a cool hack.

Maybe ~135 proof rum _isn’t_ the right choice for an old fashioned. Check out that louche!

@soulcatcher.evilsoft.org taught me about ceramic utility blades a while back. I got some, loved them, then ran out recently. I’d gotten so used to the ceramic ones that I forgot how badly metal blades SUCK HORRENDOUSLY compared to the ceramics.

I am rewriting software I regularly use as custom apps. I did that with my printer software earlier, and tonight I integrated a music player into my personal agent. SO GOOD It’s 100% a the “delight the user” experience. I didn’t realise just how bad the Spotify UI is until I replaced it

High five, oliphaunt riders!

🐘 the oliphaunt-riders of Harad have narrowly outlasted 🌟 the ancient lore-keepers of the Noldor by a narrow mountain pass. Harad prevails.

Yeaaaaah, we did it!

I plead with #atmosphere / #atproto apps. Tell me what your app does, and link to your website in your profile. These issues seem common, but I’m going to use @roomy.space as an example

When I manually browse to roomy.space, it’s just a login window. I still don’t know what this is or why I’d want to login. There’s not a link to anything that would explain it.

“Make space, cultivate knowledge” does not tell me what it does, or why I’d want it. There is nothing clickable to take me to the site.

What are your favorite non-religious exclamations? I’ve been trying for a while to stop using things Like “Jesus Christ!” Or “oh my god”. I’m not doing great at it.

“Merlin’s beard!” is fun. “Odin’s eye!” feels religious still, but also kinda not.
