Hi to all the new folks! I wrote Bump in the Dark, a FitD game about chosen family, community, and beating up monsters. I tend to only follow back after meaningful interaction. Expect TTRPGs, movies and TV, and, at least for right now, sludge/doom metal and playing guitar. Also psychology.

I initially wanted a separation between the name I used personally/in TTRPG spaces and the name I use in my day job. I guess it was a protective thing, so I didn't have to worry about my clients finding my game?? I guess?? But the longer that went on, the less I felt like myself at work.

I've *never* really liked my given name (sorry Mom & Dad), particularly how unique it is. There are other things I don't like about it, but the main thing I remember from being a kid is being *so* envious of my friends with common names

I guess I knew that the steps that came next would be much more onerous, but this really was the easiest step of the whole damn process wasn't it? I feel exhausted just thinking about everything else I'm gonna have to do

So apparently if you're a professional licensed by a state you have to get approval from the state board before you can get a legal name change.

You see this fight as an abstraction, thus you are willing to make sacrifices. But this isn't abstract. It's existential. And every sacrifice you make is blood on your hands.

I am 100% in support of trans rights and any and all protections and accommodations the community wants. But as a gay man who went thru the gay marriage fight, I came to understand many dems were for our cause but couldn’t say so b/c it was toxic. We had to do the legwork to change voters (1/2)

The fact that he thinks the fight for marriage equality is the analogous battle here, instead of HIV/AIDS, feels *very* telling

I woke up from a dream in which a certain prominent political figure died choking on a pepperoni salad. It was a very funny dream.

We fucking told you.

In a major escalation in Dems embracing anti-trans positions, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the official campaign arm of House Democrats, released its first anti-trans ad supporting Nancy Lacore in SC-01. Transphobia is spreading among dems. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Guess who's approved to be legally Jex

I'm the kind of therapy nerd who enjoys the process of documentation (especially since we don't work with insurance). I find the process useful in clarifying my conceptualization and understanding the arc of treatment. Lately, I have not wanted to do my notes at all, even a little bit.

A big part of it is that I've had a lot of brain fog for ... a kind of long while now Another part of it is almost certainly undiagnosed and untreated ADHD And of course I'm just stretched thin between multiple jobs, family stuff, and trying to write and do game design.

There are things I am bad at, and while that sometimes frustrates me, but being honest about them gives me a better understanding of myself and what challenges I need to tackle. If I have AI do them for me, I do not become good at them, I merely become nothing at them, which is kind of creepy.

Wait ... was it "Long December" because that's kind of song girls of a certain age may have lost their virginity to? Or maybe it's just a funny juxtaposition

there should be a fun term for backing a game's crowdfunding campaign and totally losing interest in it before it finally releases

again: if you watch the new harry potter, I will think less of you. Not telling you that you can't, just telling you that I will think less of you.

But I was told this is the only way Dems can win and we need to shut up and take our medicine.

Anti-trans ads are just not working this year, according to Republicans' former House Speaker Dade Phelan. “We’re just not paying attention to the issues that matter,” he said, and said that the ads were "Not resonating." Subscribe to support our journalism.

anyway finally diving into the discography of Agriculture and damn it rips. there's a three-song run at the end of last year's The Spiritual Sound that is just fucking ... chef's kiss, so good.

every notice how silly black metal vocals actually sound it's like a lil' gremlin guy in there

V. and I have been taking turns playing Cattails: Wildwood Story, a cozy life sim/RPG where you play as the feline leader of a diasporic cat colony and I never liked Stardew Valley or similar games but now I kinda get it

I notice now that this prompt seems maybe intended more for jobs you were fired from? But I don't think I've ever actually been fired? I've been laid off, and I've been officially terminated after I just stopped going to jobs ... many times in my late teens and early twenties

I also once took a leave of absence from a job and was told that I would have a job when I was ready to come back. I bet you can guess what happened.

Just under a week now that I think about it. I remember going out maybe four times. I just shadowed the first two days. The third day I did terrible, only got I think one "trib." The fourth day I actually did really well, but I was so fucking anxious that I didn't go back the fifth day.
