lmao i just learned that if you bring two ppl who hate a play to the theater to see it together they’ll still get a lot of support points because they’ll bond over being haters

lol my flight got diverted because of a medical emergency and they landed us in reykjavik in the middle of the night and deplaned us and sent us through passport control and then the crew vanished and then british airways sent us links to book an overnight hotel room but for a hotel at heathrow

This will always be one of the best NBA tweets of all time, in part because many people never realized it was a joke. But I'm glad that yesterday, the real big lesson was finally learned.

This might be the most blatant example in existence of "rich guy who created a problem attempting to place the blame for that problem on immigrants"

Lofi Gravity Falls Vinyl is literally the coolest thing I own now. Like just the art of the cover is cool, but there’s even more art inside I love.

So, there's this problem where if you looked up something on the hot search engine Duck Duck Go, it's clunky to say "I DuckDuckGo'd it." My solution? You should be saying "I Goosed It"

State of Play: I liked when we saw Jean Grey. I liked when we saw Nakamura. I liked when we saw dinosaurs. I liked when that dude Luke got pushed onto those rocks. I liked reading jokes about the Cube.

Spoiler Alert: My favorite part of the game is when Mina goes "It's hollowing time!" and hollows all those guys.

I believe this type of article means well, but personally I don't really like the framing. I feel like it's imagining a person who is on the fence on if they want to stop supporting Rowling, and the thing they’re waiting to convince them is a new magic school series to get into. (1/6?)

But if I were trying to convince someone to get into it, I would focus on selling it as its own thing, not as something that is Harry Potter adjacent. I’m not going to say there’s no point in making comparisons, but I don’t like the comparison as a way of introducing people to Witch Hat Atelier.

I feel like framing your article telling people to watch Witch Hat Atelier around Harry Potter invites people to argue about HP more so than it invites them to check Witch Hat Atelier out.

I think if you want to convince someone to move on from Harry Potter, you focus just on showing them the evidence for how awful Rowling is and how harmfully she’s using her fortune, and hope that morally pushes them over the edge. I don’t think convincing someone.... (3/6?)

...they’ll enjoy a different series more than Harry Potter is a necessary or helpful to make them see the moral problem of supporting Harry Potter. But also, I don't like presenting Witch Hat Atelier this way. I’m loving the show so far, and would be happy to see more people get into it. But...

I don’t think that’s really anyone’s mindset. People are attached to HP because it’s the series they grew up with as kids. Introducing them to a new magic school series is not going to suddenly free someone of that attachment and childhood nostalgia. (2/6?)

Hi, spider expert here! Kyle Rittenhouse was bitten by a Brown Recluse (loxosceles reclusa). Unlike widow bites, recluse bites don't affect the nervous system. Instead, they are a cytotoxic venom, destroying local tissues at the site of the bite.. So how bad could this get? Well...

I remember a couple years ago when Ayo Dosunmu was clowned for having a game where he had a Tony Snell style 0/0/0 stat line. Very fun to see how far he's come. Be more fun if it was in a Bulls uniform.

I guess if I were casting the Aegon's Conquest movie, I'd go with Callum Turner as Aegon, Elizabeth Debicki as Visenya, and Elle Fanning as Rhaenys.

At one point in this episode, Alex said he didn’t love Super Meat Boy 3D’s music. Somehow, we decided it would be funny if it had a British rap soundtrack instead, and then I was possessed by the spirit of The Bit™ and wrote this

I posted a music video I liked, got this tip about the show Samuel by the same animator, and now it’s my favorite thing, and I’ve watched the whole series twice! (Each ep is only 5 min long) So I guess, social media works again? Anyway, watch Samuel. So good. (Thanks for the tip, @antoine.fyi)

Some thoughts about writing stuff, in no particular order (this might be a long-ish thread): 1. When Old Man's War came out (2005), lots of people read it and assumed I was conservative, because of its subject matter, and sub-genre, me being a white dude from Ohio, and other various factors.
