The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.

“Obama was opposed to gay marriage, give it time, don’t seek perfection on trans issues from Dems.” Yeah, but gay marriage was a new right LGBT people were seeking. Sports, bathrooms, and IDs are something trans people have had for decades. Going BACKWARDS Is the opposite of the Obama comparison.

The only way for Democrats to get the public to pay attention to the endemic corruption that’s swallowing our government is to raise the stakes. Pleading with the public to care won’t work. Instead, the public will care if it’s clear that something serious is on the line. So promise to JAIL THEM ALL

I often say that the fight for democracy is the fight of our generation. But let me be clear, if you aren’t fighting for Black voting rights right now then you aren’t really fighting for democracy.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

If leaders abuse the rule of law to make themselves immune to it, so that they can undermine the rights of others with impunity, by what moral or philosophical argument are they entitled to its protections, once they lose power? By what grace should they be sorted by law instead of by other means?

Keep in mind that everywhere ICE is, your local police have failed you, and abandoned their oath to serve and protect. Zero Ice officers have been arrested. They assault, the kidnap, they kill, and they all walk free. Your local police treat ICE as above the law. The betrayal of duty is staggering.

The federal government is literally striking words from official record based on them being too “woke” and pundits are arguing if the wokeness is what went too far

It would be very helpful for Democrats to establish now, IN ADVANCE, that future Democratic administrations will allow any relevant criminal proceedings to go forward, and that decisions made by military leaders today could have life-changing consequences for them in the future.

I'm a bit of a broken record on this, but usurping the power of the purse isn't just one constitutional violation among all the many others. It is, uniquely and singularly, the death of constitutional government altogether. Game over, end of story, you now live in an autocracy.

It's impolite to call Musk a genocidal white nationalist because "civility" in American discourse functions not as a neutral procedural norm but as an asymmetric weapon to shield the powerful from accurate moral characterization while policing the tone of those who object.

Hello, I'm an elected Republican. I'm introducing my new "anti-child murder" act, which would require every person in the state to write me a check for $100 dollars, because 100% of child murderers have not written me a check. If this bill doesn't pass people will just be able to murder kids.

it feels like a lot of Dems are suddenly trying "we can run a robust social safety net by only taxing rich people and corporations" messaging and that is a) not a great message, in that we should all contribute b) not actually true, math-wise

the idea that Democrats are weirdly and extremely obsessed with "identity politics" and pronouns is a right wing propaganda fiction not supported by polling data, and however you slice it party leaders should not be perpetuating it

gelliottmorris.comNew poll: Democrats' real problem isn't being too liberal — it's being seen as too weakAmericans, including swing voters, see the Republican Party as 20 points more extreme than Democrats — and the Democrats as weak and ineffective. So why would the *Democrats* moderate?

Number one reason Newsom cannot be president. Not only he is regularly stabbing his supposed morals in the back, he doesn't understand how to face the public with an issue they don't understand and explain to them that this is the moral and American thing to do. Who will be fed to the wolves next?

Technology used to improve our lives. That was always understood to be the point of it. But something changed 15-20 years ago. Now, most new consumer technology is just a lopsided Faustian bargain where we trade our privacy, agency, and free time for monthly fees, loneliness, and screen addiction.

Atrocious analysis, full of platitudes popular among democratic leadership members whose rights and lives will never be on the line. "We need to cool down the rhetoric and talk to each other." If Chuck Schumer gets any colder, his joints will freeze into place and he will fall over like a statue.

Celebrate what exactly — more asthma, higher insurance costs, and accelerating climate risk? Deregulating greenhouse gases isn’t liberation. It’s shifting long-term costs onto the public. If ending greenhouse gas regulation is a ‘celebration,’ then public health just became collateral damage.

Let me reiterate: THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUYS TO PERSECUTE LARGE NUMBERS OF DISSENTERS. What they are doing, instead, is using fear and paranoia as a force multiplier: they don’t have to persecute us if we keep ourselves home because someone told us we can’t walk in public without being terrified.
