Some words from me in the @theipaper.com this weekend. My last trip to Kyiv highlighted the critical importance of anti-ballistic missile systems and civil defence, both of which the UK badly lacks. Most importantly, I highlight the critical necessity of continuing to support Ukraine.

What Ukrainians are experiencing is not an exception – Britain needs to accept that an adversary would do exactly the same to us in times of war trib.al/Dkuibjg

I feel like I've heard this exact headline at least 10 times verbatim since 2023. Wake me up when we can't find 10W VTXes and ELRS receivers in stock anywhere. Although I've noticed a lack of certain FPV drone parts in Europe, likely due to component shortage (RichWave chip, etc...)

China is imposing export controls on more drones and machinery, as the world’s second-biggest economy flexes its industrial muscles. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Osmosis is now on F-Droid! Play store situation seems pretty bleak and requires me to rent a virtual office and do a bunch of paperwork I'm not inclined to do. Osmosis hasn't received meaningful updates in about a month due to the fact it's already feature complete.

6 people were killed by Russia today in Kharkiv region: 3 women, 1 man, and 2 little girls born in 2015 and 2025 15 others were injured, including 7 children I know Trump doesn't care about people in general, only his business interests, but will Americans just allow him this foolish

⚡️ "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine—they haven't been doing much," US President Donald Trump said when asked about potential talks with Russia and China.

whoever decided "skills" ( a bunch of md files) were best distributed by npm ??? I'm doing a headless cc install and I almost installed it but thought better and just did /plugin marketplace add ... but still

❗️The EU is preparing tougher visa restrictions for Russian tourists over hybrid security threats, Politico reports. The European Commission plans proposals in the new year. Around 478,000 Schengen tourist visas were issued to Russian citizens last year, many allowing multiple entries. #EU

I'm stuck between GPT Astra's 5 hour limits (already used my 3 resets) and Opus 5.5 being too woke and throwing me [cyber] limits at every turn, have to pray it doesn't see certain stuff for it to even work. Might just switch to Chinese models for once and for all.

Been a while since I've flown a 6S capable drone *for fun*. Got this deepspace Seeker35 as a ripper for full size cameras. Decided between the axisflying manta 3.6, which was out of stock everywhere.

Todos temíamos que a Carlos Quero le iban a hacer un Surovikin como siga subiendo de popularidad pero parece que las cabezas sensatas, las pocas que quedan, han decidido otro camino.

This is exactly what we emphasized in my most recent Foreign Policy story about the huge increase in combatants using cheap drones to kill civilians: the core problem still very much is human beings CHOOSING to harm other human beings VIA technology. foreignpolicy.com/2026/09/14/d...

to me the vibes of AI safety feels like it's about externalising the problem of evil to an uncontrollable force to distract from the fact that evil is still mostly within us humans, including the people in the tech industry themselves

Tested the range using some no name antenna I had laying around, I believe a proper RHCP good quality antenna will yield better results. Max range seems to be about 30 meters.

The smart folks behind the OpenPocket RC have gotten the ESP32-C5 to do FM demodulation on 5.8 GHz analog FPV video. They made a PCB with a 6 bit step ladder DAC to output analog CVBS, so that the module can be used on FPV goggles. I took another approach:

This is truly a watershed moment as supplies of the mythical RX5808 are starting to run low. The range is not very good, but could detect drone emitting 200mW at 10 meters. There's some specific use cases where this is enough.
