"Hannah's magic cure for every ill", he teased. "Blueberry cake and a kitten." A little of this, a little of that. Leftist. Love Hozier, Ghosts, Taskmaster, ACGAS-basically, anything that celebrates the best of humanity. Dislike aggression and gaslighting

The Trump administration fired Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla D. Hayden as part of their sweeping book ban efforts. One of the titles removed? Freckleface Strawberry, a children’s book about self-acceptance. Seriously, who gets offended by that?

I keep saying this... both operationally and in research, the situation is still much worse than most people seem to realize or want to accept.

NEW: US weather forecasting is in worse shape than previously known, with 30 NWS forecast offices missing meteorologists-in-charge and about a dozen offices at risk of no longer serving their communities 24/7. www.cnn.com/2025/05/02/w...

it isn't controversial to say "german citizens in the late 1930s should have killed gestapo and brownshirts on sight and physically pulled down hitler and executed him and his entire command structure at midday in downtown berlin, to prevent the holocaust"

If you live in a military town you could do worse in terms of activism than retyping that tweet to be nice and readable and then printing it off in sizes ranging from 1/8th page to full sheet and leaving them absolutely everywhere in town

the core of tech bro fascism is a bunch of dudes who simultaneously hate artists and the creative process more than anything and lack the ability to interpret reality outside of what they've been taught by movies and TV

While there is a lot to say about this image, the thing that stands out to me the most - what IMO makes genAI a specifically right wing phenomenon - is the craving for approval. It is not enough to be able to generate robot lingerie warrior lady. They NEED to also be praised for doing it.

When this even needs to be stated like this, it means that a wrong turn has been taken somewhere in education. It starts in primary school, where it feels like you're being graded on putting the weight in the right place. Lifting effort still needs good grades, even if the placement is imperfect.

Sam Halpert@samhalpert.bsky.social

Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

Republican's job was to be big scary fashy nazi monsters and Democrat's job was to pretend to be interested in stopping them so that no one actually would. flawless execution across the board

literally all they had to do to beat trump was stop sending money and bombs for israel to kill children with. that's it. the data was there for months, and they said "nah we'd rather lose to a fascist"

If you're fantasizing about people to your left ideologically being kidnapped and tortured by an unaccountable extrajudicial secret police, you have some serious questions you need to ask yourself right now

People who voted for Jill Stein, or were so far-left they couldn't bring themselves to even vote at all, have been rounded up by ICE agents and sent to Mar-a-Lago for a thank you brunch.

This is Autumn. She was born without one paw. Gets along just fine with three, but still sometimes uses a prosthetic leg when she wants to blend in. 13/10

It always boggles my mind that I, a journalist, am expressly forbidden from trading stocks, but members of Congress, with vastly greater knowledge of market-moving news, are allowed to profit by front-running markets, and so may profit by in essence stealing from the public they represent.

Again I'll say: it all makes sense if you understand that they are evil. Trump is deranged and evil. The rest are just evil. Calling them "evil" is clarifying. It tells you what you're up against. You're not going to reason with evil. Evil has to be stopped and destroyed.

If you’re a North Carolinian, you can check whether your name or the names of anyone you know is on the list of the 65K voters whose votes may be tossed. You could have an opportunity to fix it if so. thegriffinlist.com

Thank you to all the local authorities who helped keep everyone safe, and to the many military members and off-duty officers who attended and monitored the situation.

Even small red-district towns showed up in force. Don’t let them rewrite the story. It was a historic day — and we’re just getting started. We are proud of all of you — for many, this was your first protest, and you showed up with strength and purpose.

Let’s go even bigger — our goal is to get 3.5% of America in the streets. Some media outlets are reporting only “tens of thousands” participated, but that’s no accident. Downplaying the turnout is a tactic to suppress momentum. But you were there. You saw the crowds.

Yesterday was incredible. The official count is in — 5.2 million people joined the #HandsOff protest nationwide. So many are asking: what’s next? Mark your calendars: 4/19 is the next nationwide day of protest.

hi hank there's pretty strong disagreement out there regarding the "purity" narrative

Gallifreyan Jedi@jediofgallifrey.bsky.social

the "purity" argument is such bullshit and it pisses me all the way off because it suggests they offered us 99% of what we want and we walked cause we demanded 100%. The reality is we asked for 1% of what we wanted and they told us to eat shit and fall in line

Masking discourse is on again and I’ll just say if you see people masking when few others are it’s likely because they’ve determined that for them, in that setting, the benefit of not catching (or spreading) whatever’s going around is worth the cost of masking. It’s rarely more complicated than that
