Soooo it turns out orientation itself is basically free; encoders count pixels, not shape. But exporting vertical from landscape source puts every frame through a scale + crop, and that's the tax I was actually feeling. Mystery solved.

I wanted a @repebble.com watchface showing my readings from my Nightscout instance. Looks pretty cool 😄 Let's see how it behaves for some days. This is a 13 yo smartwatch, btw. It's peak convenience design. Easy to replace parts and to tinker with it internally.

> Yes, it reads a bit odd. Erik asks the question and then corrects Ivanna’s guess, which makes it sound like he was quizzing her. My agent just wrote an ad script but Erik is a douchebag

What I meant is: Slack already mints you a token on logic (xoxc-). This token has all the permissions to run the desktop client, granting you automation without oAuth or another token.

I'm recompiling The Lion King (SNES) to native C. Plan: replay TAS movies (.bk2) with a CPU trace logger to map every function call, then feed that to the recompiler.

I just realized that some of my childhood pictures feel so foreign to me. It’s because my memory of them is of my parents taking the picture, not of the picture itself.

So what can we do after this is recompiled? Lots of stuff: 16:9 version, training mode, level selection, modify camera zoom, modify enemy placement, replays & ghosts for speedrunners, and most importantly, control over all aspects of the code. None of these are the reason why I'm doing this, though.

I’m proud to report that even though I now use a different tool to do my job (an AI agent), my opinion of the code I produce hasn’t changed: I still view it with skepticism, anger, sadness, and plain disgust.

65% done, the loop with the agent ran all night. I spent a lot of time last night trying to find a good iterative work with some cool tools I found. Game runs smoothly, and implemented toggeable frame slowness to mimic the original lag.

Added a “time on page” metric and suddenly the signup numbers meant something different. The Data Gravity Law: Any data point you introduce will bend the meaning of the others. Corollary: You can’t add a metric without re-reading all your old ones.
