I'm recompiling The Lion King (SNES) to native C. Plan: replay TAS movies (.bk2) with a CPU trace logger to map every function call, then feed that to the recompiler.

65% done, the loop with the agent ran all night. I spent a lot of time last night trying to find a good iterative work with some cool tools I found. Game runs smoothly, and implemented toggeable frame slowness to mimic the original lag.

So what can we do after this is recompiled? Lots of stuff: 16:9 version, training mode, level selection, modify camera zoom, modify enemy placement, replays & ghosts for speedrunners, and most importantly, control over all aspects of the code. None of these are the reason why I'm doing this, though.

Oh, this is really cool. That game was one of my childhood staple games :D Would be epic to play with features like widescreen and zoom levels and modifiers to make the game feel a little less cheap and more responsive/intuitive. Like those hippo tail swings xD

Same for me! I'm looking to have those featrures too, and the lag toggle - its running 1200 fps natively now. Almost there! I'm also interested in HD textures, but I have no idea how to do that yet!

I had it in mind for a couple of weeks but saved some good tokens to find a nice process and can verify manually and automatically. I started running the process since last Friday.
