Viktor Orban accomplished so much of what the Trump movement wants to accomplish here he ruled for 16 years and rewrote the rules in his favor and still, they threw him out and you know what? they did it by voting don’t let anyone tell you voting doesn’t matter

People need to understand that the party in the minority has very few options to stop or control what happens in Congress. If you don’t understand that, then you’re likely to fall for all the people blaming Democrats.

‼️ Friends, this is very important. Please share to whoever this may concern, especially if you are in the United States. Ukraine wants peace. Lasting, just, sustainable peace, and not a pause before the next bloodbath. I cannot stress this enough.

Before anyone gets mad at Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, listen to Kate. Justice Jackson didn’t side with Trump: she issued a temporary stay to prevent a rushed ruling that could let presidents exploit shutdowns to bypass Congress. Her move protects SNAP recipients & constitutional checks & balances

I am so tired of hearing pundits - left, right, and center - ponderously announce that "what voters really care about is inflation and prices." WHAT IS THE EVIDENCE WHAT IS THE ACTUAL LINKAGE YOU SEE BETWEEN THESE THINGS AND ELECTION RESULTS PLEASE, DO THE BARE MINIMUM AND SHOW A RELATIONSHIP

I recall reading ages ago that some researchers studying the effect of automotive reviews on car purchases had made a surprising discovery: People most often pore over car magazines and reviews AFTER buying a car, rather than before.

we needed all of this. it’s why i rail on doomers and tell them doing that shit is literal voter suppression. defeatism begets defeatism. momentum fucking matters to keep people engaged.

Why don’t the Democrats do something? you ask. They did. They are. Here’s one huge victory right now, courtesy of Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer.

It’s a display of power and a blatant threat. No one should include ”crime” in discussing what’s going on. That’s their take. Their story. Their lie. Don’t use their frame.

It's hard to think of a more brutal parable against 21st greed than "It caused old men to buy newspapers so that they could lie about the nature of reality at the devastating expense of all current and future generations."

🧵🧵🧵 In this thread, I lay out more than a dozen facts about Trump and his child-molester friends Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. I challenge you to read the whole thread and then decide what the odds are that Trump did not abuse girls or tolerate his pals Epstein and Maxwell doing so.

NEW! Stuart Stevens doesn’t just tell you the GOP lost its way — he names the people who sold it off, and those who cheered it on. The GOP didn’t trip into this. It became the party of Paxton— a party that elevates the indicted and sidelines the honest. www.lincolnsquare.media/p/stuart-ste...

It’s not “women show up and save the day”, it’s about the social network and how it’s part of undoing authoritarianism…very interesting, very informative, and gave me a more hopeful perspective.

Well, two things. 1) Brazil has a different kind of court system, DESIGNED TO PREVENT COUPS. 2) SCOTUS, led by John Roberts, intervened to forestall a trial and rewrite rules on DQing a candidate. That you don't understand that says you should do some more civics education.

This is the core message that needs to get out: Autopilot/FSD are not designed to keep you safe, they're designed to create the impression that true self-driving is almost here. Tesla has kept elements of the design known to create this impression, even after NTSB proved they contributed to deaths.

I started a Substack a couple of months ago. I made my first post, and the next day went to check my stats in the app. The very first *recommended* article I saw was from an account with a swastika profile picture called “NatSocToday” promoting a book of Nazi propaganda.

Daryl Cooper—the current #1 History Substacker—in 2016: “Think of how most people you know got here. It wasn’t from basic American ideology to reading Mein Kampf and then, boom, they’re onboard. It’s a process, and you have to initiate people without scaring them off."

I don't know what Dems will do w/funding & they may well fuck it up (but have been doing going things tactically). But almost no one who is sure Schumer failed by letting CR get a vote in March has reviewed whether he may have been right abt keeping courts open. 233 men may be free bc he did.

It's REALLY easy to say, I've spent the last 4 months being angry abt Schumer and therefore not to reassess that decision. But there is at least an arguable case that keeping govt open prevented a lot of even worse shit--like wholesale shipments to a concentration camp.
