Yesterday, the CSSWG accepted my proposal for mesh gradients and diffusion curve gradients! Want to make gradients like this natively in CSS? Well, we've started the work on it. It's coming! Here's the Explainer: github.com/w3c/csswg-dr...

I'll never get over how batshit insane it is that MacOS will let you interact with a window without moving focus to that window. I'll do like three things via mouse right clicks and middle clicks, then start typing, and the text goes to a different app altogether because focus never switched.

for some context, the red circle is where it started about 4 hours ago? it went from 50 acres to close to 2000 acres in a few hours. this will probably be the worst fire in spokane since 1992-ish

I rarely go to the theater anymore, but The Odyssey was absolutely worth it. Incredibly well done. Who knew a cyclops could actually be terrifying or a Trojan horse actually believable?

Grimm is one of my favorite shows of all time. But I never get over the way they never stopped messing with the opening credits. Even after they dialed it in mid season two, the length changed wildly all the way through season six

One of the more misogynistic takes currently trending in the AI policy space is "women use less AI than men because they have less tech literacy" Ok but have you considered that women use less AI than men because we have more tech literacy?

watching the tech industry burn out all the people i know who actually care about delivering things that aren’t perpetually broken, all at the altar of infinite velocity, is making me utterly utterly furious.

“Me neither…just don’t tell my boss!” Simple normie-coded quip that disarms + sidesteps the awkward comment and puts everyone at ease (incl assuaging their fear) From early career to college to centimillion boardroom discussions, awkwardness mitigation tactics have always served me incredibly well

"What do you do?" "I'm a software developer" "I don't know anything about computers" Why is this always the conversation? What do you say to that? I've never heard anybody meet a doctor and then say "I don't know anything about medicine".

There’s a character in a Brandon Sanderson novel whose intelligence varies wildly day to day. Some days, he’s barely able to function, some he’s an unprecedented genius, and most often, he’s somewhere in the middle. I just realized this is exactly how an LLM functions.

ngl, I'm irrationally annoyed that "parkour" is the term these days for movement in games. I'm sure I'm just an old man yelling at a cloud here, but my YouTuber friend, we already had a word for that and it was "platforming"
