Why stop at the session? With @colin-fraser.net‘s Frankenmodel we can have inference providers bid on every token in real time!

Stephen Judkins@stephenjudkins.bsky.social

Yeah. Self-hosting isn't going to happen much, but complete commodification of inference probably is going to be. I can see stuff like automatic bidding on individual sessions happening, even

documentary is secretly about how if you rope Nathan Fielder into a contract he doesn't like he will spend essentially infinite effort getting out of it

something something acausal

Peter Tennant@pwgtennant.bsky.social

Astonishing. Every single time I ask Opus about a causal infefence topic it's wrong in some important way.

> me when im eating

I have noticed a trend in food ads where they picture people (mostly women, for reasons that are obscure) taking a big bite of something and doing this kind of "oh, yes, I am definitely eating right now" nodding thing and I just would like all those people to know: I agree with you, you ARE eating.

It’s important that trusted orgs get access to Mythos so that they can uncover vulnerabilities in their own infrastructure before attackers can exploit them. Vulnerabilities such as “4”

Yes - 50% is *more* than 40%. So if 50% of people have at least X, it implies that 40% of people would also have at least X.

I think putting inference in this shape and getting coherent text out of it has many interesting implications. I would be very curious to see how it holds together over longer context windows

Frankenmodel refuses to believe it's not just Claude

Registering my prediction that the mechanical bird thing is some sort of viral marketing stunt that everyone is in on, this is getting out of hand

:( was not aware of a step change here, what’s the source of the dramatic change?

What I am getting at is I believe that if there was a credible threat of getting in actual trouble when your AI does something bad that the labs would implement basic simple measures that would be highly effective at preventing those bad things.

Colin@colin-fraser.net

Me, personally, I actually believe there are good reasons to think it won’t do these things, and that it is in fact highly controllable. You disagree. Fine. Have it your way. LLMs should be restricted the way nukes are, then.

Wow they grand central’ed the Eiffel Tower

there was a 1936 proposal to build a concrete ramp structure up to the midpoint of the eiffel tower so you could drive up it. and i, for one, think it’s a shame that there was never a trend of making world monuments more car-accessible.

denaturalization of any sort, for any reason, for anyone, is imo profoundly evil. even for fraud. citizenship should irrevocable. want to stop fraud? find it before you grant citizenship. sizable fine reasonable for citizenship fraud, and other crimes you punish under regular criminal law, sorry!

freddy@jumhyn.com

Believe pretty strongly citizenship should be irrevocable. Even in cases of fraud there can be other criminal penalties but don’t think that denaturalization is a remedy that should be available to the state in any case. Your citizens are your citizens.

It’s very amusing to me the extent to which the agents obsess over backwards compatibility and are so much less interested in forward compatibility, if they bring it up at all

WHAT

this is actually pretty insane: it looks like somebody intercepted them in the supply chain and added an implant which spies on the wires leading to the screen and phones home (literally; it had a SIM card) with the secret code

Directionally much better flavor of AI criticism; let’s get some liability baby!

ceo of burger king: our burgers have gone rogue again and infected people with e coli

Important to take the correct lesson here, though. Rather than dunking on the “gone rogue” terminology (honestly not so ridiculous to apply this to the process of biological agents infecting the food supply!) consider that industrial food safety standards and incident responses are quite robust!

also, your periodic reminder that anthropic models do not generate images. anthropic is the only US frontier lab that has been responsible on this one, whether on purpose or not. i will once again ask people to focus on real problems and not make things up just because you're mad at anthropic today.

If you’re going to dunk on something at least engage with the stronger version of the argument that is more likely to be actually held

this is not a steelmanning stan account, “more likely to actually be held” is operative here (smh if not for claude i would still be saying “load-bearing”)
