This is such a fun game. Highly recommended, especially if you're someone that's introducing MR and VR games to for the first time.

This collaboration has been one of the best things this year. Check out the teaser for the GTC 1.0 Release!!!

We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We don’t shy away from sharing our process with the world, because it shows we’re human. We’re imperfect artists who put our all into the work, and we let that passion flow onto every screen around the world 🌊

Tl;dr If it's silly to attempt to solve a semi-complex algebra problem in your head, it's even sillier to try to solve life problems that way. Whip out the paper and pencil

Juan Lam@juanlam.com

Most problems are actually downstream from a lack of information (clarity/context/etc) and the best way to solve it is to seek specificity and disambiguation as quickly as possible. This goes for art, emotional dilemmas, technical problems and more

Once you write it all down, the chances are that a solution, or at least a path to a solution, become much more reachable and your problems become a lot smaller!

Journaling & writing (making art in general, even, but specifically writing down your problems) is incredible cognitive tech bc it forces you to make your problems, which are nebulous and large and looming in your head, into concrete, specific words

I'm continuing work on our OpenXR mixed reality tool called "MR Magic" Here's a screenshot of what that looks like with meta bounding boxes in my room + the tool I made to help me visually debug my surface2surface pathfinding algo Surfaces are nodes connected by edges, which is what's shown :)

But for now, here's the path that's represented by the nodes in the first post. You can see that it goes Wall11 -> Floor -> Table2Right -> Table2Top and the corresponding nodes are highlighted in gold in both the 2D and 3D view

So far: - Surfacebound Pathing -Surface Snapping - Surface Queries (Get surface of label X and type Z, or GetSpawnInRoom) - Surface Zones (configure "valid" surface areas) - Configurable Surface Grids (using this to smooth out pathing rn) Want to add oct-trees next for better performance & pathing!

While I'm working on the new game my team is working on finishing up Galactic Traffic Control with a 1.0 official release! Plus! Doing some very cool collaborations. Very excited with where we're going and what we're doing.

I can't show anything yet but after 3 months I started working on this again and we're making lots of cool progress! Hopefully something shareable soon. Specifically looking forward to sharing my room-pathing solution in Unity. I'm pretty jazzed with it.

Juan Lam@juanlam.com

For the past week I've been working on a surface-bound pathfinding package in Unity for mixed reality apps. I'm hoping to release it for other devs to use as well once I have it a bit more polished up! Spoilers -- we're in the early days of a tower defense prototype for our next game 👀

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share that I'll be going to GDC for the first time this year!! I'm looking to connect with anyone in the XR community. Would really love to chat. Reach out if you're want to meet up at some point for coffee or a chat ☕🍵

Taking part in the Godot XR Jam! It's my first time using Godot and I'm having tons and tons of fun. The XR Tools are actually very intuitive and lovely to work with. Kudos to the team!

My reading goals this year are: - More Ursula K Le Guin (always her!) - Latin American books, read in Spanish (need to work those muscles more -- Borges, Allende, Marquéz) - Russian Lit (was gifted Master & Margarita, want more Russians) - Tolkien - Mythology (Odyssey?) - Rushdi And ofc, Calvino

It was an honor to have this great conversation with Austin and share some of my thoughts on XR, creativity, and writing!

Want the XR community's thoughts on this: the way I see it, it would only be good for Meta to support XR development in Godot. I don't see a way in which they wouldn't benefit from this. And while they're at it, maybe they should replace Horizon World's editor. It's very unwieldy.

I constantly feel like a beginner in everything I set out to do. Like I'm constantly re-learning things from first principles every time I set out to make a new game, website, story, etc... And even after the fact it all feels duct-taped together. Not a bad thing maybe, just interesting!

I want to redesign my website again soon to optimize for making it easy to quickly write & post, plus some other stuff. But design-wise, unsure if I should strip it down towards minimalism, or actually go for maximalism. I'm talking an interactive map, VFX, etc

AndroidXR's release solidifies it -- I'm going to have to build all future XR apps using Unity XR Interaction Toolkit. Honestly, I should've done it for GTC too but I wanted to play with Meta's toys
