RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Detailed outlines. With neat little bullet points. Best I can manage is: 1) starting 2) themes 3) important scenes 4) ???? 5) end place Then it is off to the races. #writingq #WritingCommunity

A "Historically Accurate Odyssey" only works if it is just a poet reciting the entire poem. Perhaps with a few actors in the background and Muses as the chorus. And it all needs to be done in a single, unbroken take and viewed form a still camera as if watching from the amphitheater seats.

Elon Musk released the first episode of his "historically accurate Odyssey, and I need a historian to make a video tearing it to bits

Trump: "In Washington, all the restaurants were closing. People were being held up. They'd walk into a restaurant. Like Jesse James. 'Stand up! Give us all your money.' They're eating dinner at a fancy restaurant. All the restaurants were closing."

I had intended to cover more than just two chapters. I knew this book was bad, but the overviews have not gotten into the nitty gritty. I am on page 21 of 31, and have almost 6k words of script.

This is not about "climate campaigners" and framing it this way is totally ridiculous This is a blow to the planet and us all

This design appears to completely eliminate the much-beloved loop road and public park at Hains Point, and cut down the cherry trees which line the road. The park is a public space used by tens of thousands of Washingtonians and heavily visited by tourists. /photos not my own.

There are a lot of opinions about what makes you a real writer, so let me tell you the truth: You become a real writer when you notice a typo and it's too late to do anything about it.

The dogs are used to summer walks, up and atum as soon as there is light because it is fu hot by 9 am. Today it is cold-ish and they are staring into my soul to know why we haven't left yet.

Local indie bookstore is participating in a bookstore "crawl". The idea is cute, but it is more of a localized road trip then a crawl. Most are at least a hour away from each other by car.

If you are using AI, you are not an author. Period. End of conversation.

We understand the strength of feeling this AI Charter has provoked & that more explanation is needed. We will publish a blog tomorrow detailing why, in a vacuum of regulation, this charter demands more transparency & accountability from organisations on how they are using AI now and in the future.

Yeah, but what are they actually going to DO about it? Who is going to jail? Who is paying for the damage? This is the problem with Trump and his ilk. The trees can't be replaced. No matter how mad anyone is about it, if there are no consequences, he still wins. www.alternet.org/trump-golf-c...

The wood pile has been taken down. This is my parents house, so most of that wood was older then I am. Kinda surprised it didn't just disintegrate. Most was rotting, so it went over the fence to a wood area to return to nature.

It has been a week. Orion got bit by a snake, copperhead we think but we never found it. He ended up in the ER vet on monday night and had to get anti-venom. Tuesday morning he was feeling well enough they asked me to pick up early. He's not eating much because his mouth hurts.

I cannot say definitively that we'll never develop artificial intelligence. I strongly doubt it, based on the limits of technology and our understanding of consciousness. But I can say absolutely that an LLM will never be conscious or feel pain. It's a glorified Magic Eight Ball. That's all.

They were going to keep him for 24 hours. He was feeling so well this morning, he was distressed by actually being in the kennel and was howling and thrashing, and chewing his cath. They had to give him sedation so he didn't hurt himself and is now on home observation.

JPL_Reader@jpl-reader.bsky.social

He's staying the night and getting anti-venom.

Pretty sure Orion got a dry snake bite to the nose. Mom called in a panic that he was in distress, got home and took him to vet. Two small spots of blood under his nose. Vet gave him benadryl and pain meds. He's home and relaxing now.

Tremors was one my first ever movies that mom forgot to check the rating on before letting my watch it why too young. I still love this wonderfully stupid movie. I have all of them and the TV series on DVD.

This tidbit was in the article. 🎈💥 ? "Goldman Sachs warned Friday that AI hyperscalers, including Meta, need to generate roughly $300 billion a year in AI services revenue just to break even on their capital spending—and $1 trillion annually to earn meaningful profits—spooking investors."

Working on the next Chapter by Chapter book (it's Shad's, may gods/goddesses of reading have mercy on my shelf). I know I wasn't going to literally do Chapter by Chapter, but I am on page 6 - less than half way through ch1 - and I have 8 pages of notes.

This is utterly enraging and I gotta be honest, I have no idea how to fix it. It’s a symptom of a much, much deeper problem. The next two years are just going to be a slog.

I bought a new comforter. It arrived today, in a box smaller then I usually get books in. This thing is going to open like a can of biscuits.
