Crystal Lake seeks to answer: what won’t gays watch Linda Cardellini in? And the answer so far is, “apparently, nothing.”

Every year, Descript has a spooky film fest. This year, I used a combination of our generative and traditional editing tools to animate one of my favorite spooky stories: Edward Gorey's Gashlycrumb Tinies (Or After the Outing)

Living in coastal CA, the trash cans outside our cafe are those wildlife proof designs, which need to keep the smartest bear out while staying usable by the dumbest human. As a product designer, I think about how hard that is a lot.

I would like to thank Twilio's marketing department for their stuffed owl swag from AI Engineer world's fair, which is surprisingly durable and has become Wily's favorite toy.

I've determined that 2-3 of the ravens that follow me are juveniles demanding their parents still feed them. It's equal parts annoying and cute.

I thought it would be fun to befriend the three ravens that perch outside our house. There are now a dozen ravens that perch outside our house. It's not about having raven friends any more. It's about not making raven enemies.

California ravens are the smallest, and arrived here almost 2 million years ago, and are more closely related to the Mexican Chihuahuan raven than the ravens across the rest of North America, which themselves are more closely related to European ravens. This has been your raven fact.

Never. Ever. Find yourself owner of a vendor contract at your company. In unrelated news, has anyone successfully gotten their teams off Figma?

I hope it will be like when the barista realizes what they did and gives you the cookie you originally wanted, too, for free.

I love an opportunity to paraphrase Bette Davis: You should never say bad things about the dead, you should only say good . . . Lindsey Graham is dead. Good.

Who is the best US-based #designengineer you know, and why haven't you sent them this unhinged video for the role I'm hiring for?

#DesignSystems friends, I'm hiring a #designengineer. It's a weird role, and I'm a weird boss, so I made this kick-off video to introduce both! SF or Remote (US). Apply here: grnh.se/zzirri2l3us

The Mummy would have been ok, if they’d made any effort to have their characters behave plausibly in Act I-II

One asks, “What if we explored the horrific aspects of human behavior?” The other asks, “what if our characters behaved like no humans would?”

Do you think we’ll make it to August before everyone who’s writing about integrating agents into your design systems starts writing about how to unslop your design system?

According to my wellness tracker, I had the best night’s sleep in terms of REM and deep sleep in months, but I feel like shit. What gives?

Is there like an open source email safety course? Sea Ranch is mostly septuagenarians, and based on listserv activity, our critical infrastructure is at severe risk.

I’ve been befriending our neighborhood ravens, and the Nest cam I have pointed at our deck to spot wildlife consistently tags them as “Person.”

This single is up there with Book of Mormon with how well it executes the form of that which it is parodying.

Finally got my stimulants after a couple of weeks being off them. It’s about to be like Jekyll and Hyde, but Mr. Hyde is the one who can function in society.

The first pride was a protest, but could this pride be a glass of wine and a little nap under a fuzzy blanket.

Caught up on The Bay and started the Boroughs this weekend. There’s got to be a theme to my weekend viewing. I’m not sure what it is. But it’s definitely there.

Put a gun to my head and I’d side with folks who are vehemently opposed to AI for anything over people who want to put it everywhere, but I don’t really have the energy to engage with either attitude seriously.

It’s not that you’re wrong, it’s just that I don’t think individual consumption habits is the main driver of our current dystopia. I’m not invested enough in the success of AI to try to change your mind so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Like, I get it, but I also choose not to be the type of vegetarian who gets indignant in someone’s comments because they’ve decided as an individual to consume beef.
