Standing in a very long Eurostar queue at St Pancras and fantasizing about a Taken sequel in which Liam Neeson takes out whoever is currently going ham on the concourse piano

Games and tech freelancers : I am once again asking for freelance pitches for PC hardware features (not reviews or guides, sorry!) on RPS. Email's in bio, genAI users need not apply (it's much, much easier to spot than you think)

NEW: We spent months investigating a little-known media startup called Brown Brothers Media, which buys legit news sites and turns them into AI-powered zombie content farms What blew my mind was its traffic -- it appears to be getting more readers than NPR or CBS News futurism.com/artificial-i...

Resident Evil movie is very dumb but very good, that's my review. A very well-made story of a stupid man on a delivery mission, with a hundred nods to game lore but not in a way that slows it down.

I was not smart enough to draw the Die Hard comparison but Oli is right.

Resident Evil is phenomenal as a pure exercise in the physical logistics of action — for horror, for comedy, for excitement — the blocking, framing, timing, the design of each moment; perfect. It’s The Thing via Die Hard, but slapstick. A genius approach to the material.

Pondering if Sony is dropping PhysInt because it's economising after the live-service calamity, or because Kojima + next-gen budgets = financial black hole. Or both.

There is a very specific form of mania that comes from working a show and listening to the same trailer on repeat for three days straight.

Unfortunately this compelled me to choose the Scoundrel class even though that's probably going to end badly for him.

My hastily-assembled pinhole projector made from things found in the office was a big hit and multiple people wanted to have a go on it, whch I'm 80% sure wouldn't have happened if it wasn't an eclipse.

Clacton, the choice is yours

Seems sensible. Devolver's whole vibe always felt antithetical to being a public company.

Today is Bethesda Softworks' 40th birthday. Can't imagine it's a particularly joyful celebration, given the month they've had.

Games are culture now.

I don't care about football and I care even less about the relative merits of BlueSky but I must concede that the posts are good.

I remember getting drunk with a couple of guys from Volition (also RIP) just before the game came out and them saying "we might have signed some perfect music" and then the game closes with Holding Out For A Hero after opening with Power by Kanye West. God bless THQ (also RIP)

this is why you come to Bluesky. to listen to people in their 40s speak wistfully of online map printouts like ancient sea captains speak of guiding themselves by the moon and stars.

Heatwave meant I accidentally drank an entire iced coffee at 3pm while being older than 35. On the plus side, heatwave meant I wasn't going to get any sleep tonight anyway.

Being on press mailing lists during Next Fest is like being individually notified about every snowflake in a blizzard.

Xbox's studio expansion was carried out by a leader who's no longer there to support a business case that no longer exists. The only cause for faint hope is that they have a track record of letting studios return to independence (Bungie, Twisted Pixel, Toys for Bob etc).

There are also *some* buyers out there who are interested in acquiring experienced teams with an established back catalogue. I don't know if Microsoft would want to let the latter go, though.

Met so many great devs last year being a part of Leftfield (also my first time traveling out of the US!), and David is an awesome and thoughtful curator. Definitely recommend submitting to this showcase if you're interested!

Experiential marketing means you can have the classic "driven to madness by listening to one trailer looping indefinitely" showfloor experience while waiting for a cab. I do not care for it.

I have my reservations about Xbox pandering to the peanut gallery but I can't argue with returning to transparent consoles.

Actually very wise to bypass the suite of pet leakers for this internal memo and just post it unredacted to the official blog

This is excellent. The read on the current market is spot on. The goals are made clear, and the tactics laid out. It's no guarantee for success, but it does set a strong foundation and a vision for the future. news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/0...
