DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

So we need some kind of coordination mechanism for fiscal and monetary policy. The institutional design part is tricky and there are lots of ways to do it. We proposed an 'economic policy coordination committee' here, but there are many other possible design options. fabians.org.uk/publication/...

I think that we have to accept that monetary and fiscal affect each other in important and unavoidable ways. This was true pre-QE, but became impossible to ignore post-QE. Global supply shocks -- which aren't going away -- mean distributional effects of price increases need a partly fiscal response.

David's tragedy here is a lesson for us all. If you're planning on going to a thing where you know there'll be no trouble getting in, BUY A TICKET. The number of stories I've heard of events cancelled due to lack of interest, and then a load of people pop up to say "Oh I meant to book that!"
Sorry Jonn, had it in my calendar and was just reaching to buy the ticket now but saw it was cancelled :(
