This month has made clear how critical it is for the EU to be ready to defend against Russia without US assistance. Having to kiss the ass of the world's biggest narcissist and hoping he won't stab you in the back for $$ is not the thing reliable security guarantees are made of.

Trump declared that Russia “has been fine on Ukraine” and “hasn’t been doing much.” Hours earlier, a Russian drone struck a park, killing a 1-year-old girl in her stroller and her mother.

UK ‘an outlier in Europe’ for letting Farage and other politicians present TV shows. GB News, owned by hedge fund manager, is the propaganda arm of Reform/Farage. Politicians must be scrutinized, and not allowed to present news or current affairs programmes.

With columnists confirming Putin viewed UK exit from the European Union as a vital step toward fracturing European democratic alliances, clinging to self-inflicted isolation directly plays into authoritarian strategy. Rebuilding European unity demands action. #FBPE

I notice the right wing extremist media getting frantic about talk of rejoining the EU - but all they can counter with is 'project fear' imaginings about how bad it would be to be back in. I've not seen any of them point to a single Brexit benefit that we would lose. 🤔

Andy Burnham hits back at Kemi Badenoch: "How can she justify turning her back on a deal that is potentially on the table now to add billions to the UK economy?"

Andy Burnham finally telling it how it is on Brexit is a welcome dose of truth. Admitting leaving the EU ruined our global standing, wrecked the economy, and left us with zero control is long overdue. Why did it take political leaders ten years to state the obvious? (1/2) 🤔 #FBPE

This is nothing new. It's what helped to bring about Brexit. So surely Burnham's remarks about online Russian disinformation now should cast such a shadow over Brexit that we rejoin at least the Single Market before the next election! #RejoinEU🇬🇧🇪🇺

And of course this iconic vox pop

In May 2019, a reporter from the far-right Canadian sewer Rebel News / The Rebel tried to interview people on the streets of Manchester about Stephen Yaxley-Lennon / Tommy Robinson who was standing as an MEP, and encountered the (NSFW but very honest) Queen of the North.

The only 4 constituencies where rejoining the EU wasn’t the preferred option were those of Lee Anderson, Farage, Tice and Lowe. In those 4, the top answer was ‘don’t know’. Confirming that Brexit has no real support at all. Not surprising for a total shitshow. And makes red lines seem very silly.

The RNLI rescued Luftwaffe pilots in WW2 because the organisation is there to 'save life at sea' - it's something to be immensely proud of. But as I've said many times before Farage and Co don't seem to have pride in Britain and its institutions beyond flags and crap Enoch Powell said 60 years ago.

Sarah Murphy@13sarahmurphy.bsky.social

This should be the moment people finally realise that Farage has turned them into fascists. If you’re choosing this dangerous inhumanity over the rescue work of the RNLI, you’ve lost your minds to racism and hatred.

Piddington's independence ref is being presented as a quaint 'crumpets and muffins' comedy of plucky country folk. It's much darker and nastier than that and shows how deeply entrenched the bigoted 'fighting aged men on boats' narrative runs. Me for @noosphere.app www.noosphere.app/passport-to-...

noosphere.appPassport to PiddingtonLast week an Oxfordshire village declared independence from the United Kingdom - ostensibly in protest at a local refugee centre. But is something darker going on?

While rightwing media nods approvingly at the prejudiced outcry in Piddington, a RNLI station has to close because of white British thuggery and threats. This is where the constantly toxic obsession with immigration leads. To racist, flag-wielding vigilantism that ruins this country for everyone.
