Between Tim Sweeney being an absolute AI chud and the harassment of our beloved @kenney.nl, we've decided to cancel our previously announced Epic Games Store release for Shape Sender Deluxe 🚮

A lot of my #Godot games right now are just from tutorials I follow (made one “unique” one which is derived from a tutorial). But I don’t use AI to make them - assets are sourced from itch.io or other places, and if I have a problem I don’t use AI to solve it #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

Niche, but it’s really easy to get into making your own video games compared now to what used to be available 10+ years ago, and it means despite some of the AAA industry falling apart you get occasional gems made by one person (e.g. Cruelty Squad) #Godot #SoloDev #IndieDev #GameDev
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
Now I’ve complained before about the lack of decent FPS tutorials for #Godot 4 (especially for a game like Doom). Might have to hit LukeRS #GodotEngine 3 tutorial at one point and see if I can successfully convert it because I’m just better at this now #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev
Doing this #GodotEngine course reminds me how much I love #Godot (and #FOSS) and how I prefer 3D to 2D - probably something to do with my age? Anyway, these turrets exist and now they rotate towards the enemies and shoot gnarly cannonballs at them #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

In other news I’ve purchased the ultimate #Godot course from gamedev.tv and have done the preparation for it, looking forwards to the first call on Sunday and all the tasks. I feel I don’t need more tutorials for #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev to master #GodotEngine but I need coaching

This isn’t the first time I’ve flipflopped between versions but the great thing about #Godot is it’s so easy to set up and follow along so versions don’t matter as much as say, Unreal Engine, where I probably couldn’t do this. Sometimes I just like doing tutorials. #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev
Was trying to follow a #Godot 3 tutorial for an RPG using #GodotEngine 4 but it’s too much effort - I’ll start over in 3, and get it out sooner. Noticing a gap in #GameDev tutorials for the types of games I’d like to play - a lot of Godot 3 ones weren’t updated to 4 #SoloDev #GameDev

Felt #Godot #GodotEngine #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev might delete later. This is a gamedev.tv course for Barbarian Blaster, one of those tower defense games you typically see adverts for on social media but no AI in this. Notetaking is making this stick and I’m learning so much.

For those who need the #Godot GDScript code which is relevant and might explain why I have been having problems - I’ve commented out almost all the lines that were causing me problems #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev #GodotEngine
#Godot update: I’ve tried to make a new enemy that shoots, mashing some code from an existing #GodotEngine 3 project I made a similar game with. I also tried to make an explosion effect and NONE OF IT WORKS AND I DON’T KNOW WHY #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

#Godot #GodotEngine is so easy to use! I’ve almost finished this project, just some finishing touches and some other bits and pieces I want to add (such as an enemy that shoots). Game over menu works, I love this font I’ve chosen (thanks @kenney.nl) #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev
