threadpoolctl 3.7.0 is out. This library is a utility used by @scikit-learn.org and others to coordinate the levels of thread-based parallelism in native libraries such as BLAS implementations and OpenMP runtimes used by Python libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch and scikit-learn.

🚀 NumPy in the browser just got faster. Emscripten-forge NumPy now uses OpenBLAS, bringing significant speedups to linear algebra, including matrix multiplication. Upcoming WASM SIMD kernels will improve performance further. 🔗 notebook.link/blog/the-las... cc @conda-forge.org @pyodide.org

Ten years ago, I founded QuantStack on a conviction: that we could build a sustainable business by supporting world-class open-source software to advance science. We had no outside funding, no guarantees, just trust in open collaboration. Read the full story: quantstack.net/blogs/Decade...

Replying to @prefix.dev

We just published a blog post going into some detail on what makes patching source code hard: prefix.dev/blog/flickz... – it's not just the relatively unstructured diff formats. Source code also lives and breathes, and moves!

prefix.devFlickzeug – or why patching source code is hardTL;DR - we have extended the Rust crate diffy to be able to patch real-world source code with real-world patches, which is surprisingly hard! In the process we renamed it to flickzeug.

🏅We are thrilled to announce that @quantstack.bsky.social has been honored with the "Acteurs du Libre 2024" award by CNLL at the Open Source Experience conference. This is a recognition of our commitment to free software and our work on Jupyter, Conda-forge, and Projects of the PyData ecosystem.

Are there benefits of using PyPI over conda-forge, but to access a larger number of packages which can anyway be packaged on conda-forge thanks to grayskull? I do not see any, but I would be glad to be proven wrong.

How would one bridge an improperly addressed problem like dependencies management mostly seen as a decision problem (cast as B-SAT) over an optimization problem (castable as an ILP)? Should one even try to improve this situation, or continue with the status quo?

Following over 1.5 years of hard work (w/@njroussel.bsky.social &@rtabbara.bsky.social), we just released a brand-new version of Dr.Jit (v1.0), my lab's differentiable rendering compiler along with an updated Mitsuba (v3.6). The list of changes is insanely long—here is what we're most excited about🧵

You are up to date.
