A single billionaire megadonor is propping up the Republican effort to stop Dems from flipping Pennsylvania’s Senate and gaining full control of government—to a much greater degree than Elon Musk is doing it at the federal level

Adam Bonin@adambonin.bsky.social

Via @stephenjcaruso.bsky.social, who really should post here more than there, I'm counting $8.52M from Jeffrey Yass to try to preserve a GOP state senate majority in PA (candidate giving, SRCC, and State GOP) and another $1.1M to stanch the bleeding in the state house, where Dems lead 103-100.

Trump and Republicans are restarting their voter fraud misinformation machine ahead of the midterms. When I checked, Republican candidates were implicated in voter fraud at up to 38,000x the public’s rate. If they were actually worried about voter fraud, they’d start with their own candidates.

It turns out that an international system based on “deals”, instead of rules, endangers all of us personally and our democracies collectively.

As @gelliottmorris.com has noted, Trump is now underwater on immigration and deportations. Opposing the admin on its immorality IS good politics that will HELP Democrats get elected!!

I don't know why the WH press corps is so chicken shit. MTG tried this once, refusing a foreign outlet (BBC, iirc) question, asked for an American reporter. So I jumped in, yelling "American here with a question" and then asked her to answer the BBC reporter's question. (not to toot my own horn)

I know we say 'unprecedented' a lot, but this shit is seriously unprecedented (and unserious, as I hope I conveyed in my quick write up. I'm assuming there will be standing, ripeness, statutory, and constitutional challenges here): www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

An update on Florida's early voting. It is still trailing 2022 due, in part, to a significant change in law regarding mail ballot requests. Democrats and Unaffiliated voters are making up ground in the in-person early vote, but Republicans not so much michaelmcdonald.substack.com/p/florida-ea...

michaelmcdonald.substack.comFlorida Early Vote UpdateFlorida is a special case for 2022 early voting comparisons due to the adoption of SB90, a law that changes how voters request mail ballots.

I cannot get past how this seems to suggest it is unusual that someone understands politics differently at 21 from when they were 11. Maybe learning Santa isn't real or where babies really come from set young Mikey down this path of discovery

Michael Fusella supported President Trump for nearly a decade. But as the Iran war drags on and the cost of living continues to climb, the 21-year-old Republican said he feels betrayed by a president who said he’d end overseas conflicts and lower prices.

Today, while protecting Palestinians, Brad Lander & a group of American rabbis & others were taken by the IDF. Releasing Brad isn't enough, the Israeli govt must release them all.   If this is how they treat Americans, imagine how they treat Palestinians. Trump & Rubio's silence fuels this impunity.

The internet told them Europe was a social paradise. Turns out the trains are awful, the health care isn’t free, and people can be really mean.

Other states (e.g. NC, Ohio) have shown big jumps in early vote among Demss. But unlike those states, early voting in Pa is mostly by mail (you can go to an election office and vote early in person, but that's less convenient than other states setting up many sites). Suggests Ds worried about USPS

*Dems. Anyway, all the caveats apply: its early still, tough to say without more data and more interviews w/ actual voters, etc. Maybe the lack of a really competitive state-wide race playing a role (maybe D votes are up in PA-1, 7, 8 and 10?) and so on...

I'm not exaggerating, Jeffrey Lurie needs to hire an independent investigator to review the entire decision making process that led to Jalen Hurts not only playing that game in London, but then getting onto a transatlantic flight back. He could have died, heads need to roll.

Insane he took the field, insane he flew back after. Everything about this is insane and could have ended with Hurts dead on the field. We need inquiries and accountability here.

Ian Rapoport@rapsheet.bsky.social

More details: What was originally believed to be a superficial blood clot was then revealed Saturday afternoon to be several blood clots in Jalen Hurts' lungs. At that point, it all changed. It is serious. It is scary. And Jalen Hurts should make a full recovery.
