“Obama insulting my home decorating obsession shows why he isn’t smart and wasn’t a good president” is something I’d swear the Onion wrote to skewer Trump’s vanity. I genuinely wouldn’t believe he could be this petty and ridiculous if I wasn’t watching the video of him saying it in his own words.
Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

Sir, sir, I am begging you with tears in my eyes, do not listen to your stupid people…keep declaring how frickin’ rich all the oil and gas executives (and your crooked friends) are getting. This is perfect and everyone who tells you otherwise is a traitor to MAGA and America itself!
Trump: "Our country is making hundreds of billions of dollars on oil. and then on top of it we have Venezuela, and we have Greenland! 'We're making trillions of dollars. But my people said 'please don't mention that, sir, because people are paying a little higher'... we're making a frickin' fortune"

Overall, we are seeing some very odd deal talks that are supposedly a part of ending the war in Ukraine. But in fact evidence shows these deals are structured (in the most recent case secretly until now) to financially benefit Russia or business partners of the Trump and Witkoff families.

Many called Jared Kushner corrupt Many noted he took bribes from Middle Eastern autocrats, especially Saudi Arabia, skewing US foreign policy And they were right But as this reveals, he's even more corrupt and took even more money from Middle Eastern autocrats that many, even strong critics, knew

Unclear if we’re abandoning our allies, ran out of defense materials, and/or are about to cause even more destruction and destabilization in the region so that Trump can feel like less of a loser, but either way:
#BREAKING US embassy staff and families ordered to leave Saudi Arabia, with families of embassy staff in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar and Bahrain also ordered to leave, diplomatic source tells AFP
This is 100% pure, uncut Vance, “I’m not disgusted by the depravity of Vivek’s dishonest attack add downplaying childhood sexual abuse, I’m just disgusted by Republicans with basic decency condemning the revolting, depraved ad put out by our own team.”
"If I have to create stories... then that's what I'm going to do" was how he defended the lying hate speech about Haitians eating their neighbors' pets (In Ohio, as it happens). It is no surprise at all that this doesn't bother him.
Trump’ strongly approve # with GOP voters is 25 points below the immediate aftermath of 1/6! Unfortunately his weak approval is about the same. 🤢 bsky.app/profile/bren...
Imagine a President (and a political party) so depraved, and so horny for dictatorship, they’ve decided asserting your Constitutional rights is anti-American. I’ve never been a particular fan of Omar’s, but this is truly repugnant.
Trump: "Ilhan Omar, how about her? She comes from maybe the worst country in the entire world, Somalia…And she comes over here and she starts quoting, 'I have constitutional rights, the Constitution…' And she hates this country."

Hey @matt-levine.bsky.social, is this securities fraud? (Yes)
There is a ton of wild stuff happening in this article, but perhaps the most stunning is that Andreesen doesn’t realize he’s describing freaks like Musk, Thiel, and himself in the text highlighted below:
I don’t know what’s more pathetic, that Andreesen is still trying to unload a16z’s crypto bags on retail or that he’s gone full MAGA:

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports
Great work, Polis—you released the Kraken 2.0. This time she’s already getting Trump excited for “potential civil war.”

It’s so ironic that this is the system of government American billionaire tech bros want—here, Putin tells his oligarchs that they’re on their own defending their infrastructure from consequences of his stupid invasion and their companies will be nationalized if they fail to defend their businesses.
Vladimir Putin is shifting the burden of anti-drone defences on to Russian businesses, with companies that fail to protect their assets from Ukrainian strikes facing the prospect of state takeover amid Kyiv’s intensifying long-range drone campaign. ft.trib.al/aTVq5hl
