God I just feel so apathetic towards everything rn. I wanna quit my job, my heart's not in comedy anymore, I don't know what the fuck to do with my life, or even really who the fuck I am. I just wanna exist and love and hang out with my silly friends, but that doesn't earn me money to live 😤

Riddle me this. If somebody donates £36 million to a political party and £5 million to its leader, how is the £5 million not political? Asking for a parliamentary standards commissioner.

What's that? I remembered I'm on bluesky?? and just when I've got a show coming up!? What a coincidence! Blizzard Comedy is back at Gullivers Manchester on Thurs 27th August with one of our gayest line ups yet (high bar). You should book your free ticket here now <3 www.outsavvy.com/event/38009/...

outsavvy.comBlizzard Comedy LIVE, featuring Reese Wetherspoon Tickets - Manchester - OutSavvyWe are gearing up to head back to Gullivers for a penultimate show of the year that feels like it has come around far too fast indeed. We very much hope that you will join us on Thursday 27th August ...

I don't really use this platform enough for this to be worth it - but in case anyone is following me here for comedy purposes, my name is Jaycie Grace now. That'll show the opening joke about my name i've used continuously for like 7 years.

Because the more of us who exist openly as we are, the less those hardships can sting and constrain us. It’s truly humbling, and gives me an enormous sense of comfort and pride.

(That being said, I would like it to not involve as many hardships as it currently does, so if you could please stop enabling and voting for transphobic rhetoric, stand up for us when our personhood is attacked, correct those you seespreading disinformation about us, that would be great, thx xo)

And being able to put that energy out into the world, for the kind of people, like a young Jaycie, who desperately need it. That, for me, makes all of this worthwhile, no matter the hardships I have to face.

So if nothing else, what I am proud of this Trans day of visibility – is the thought that somewhere in my day to day life, maybe through comedy, or through the friendships and bonds I make, maybe just the vibes I give off existing as myself in public. Is that visibility can be there for others.

Maybe they’re not out yet, maybe they haven’t had the exposure to the same knowledge and understanding that I have, maybe they are just still figuring themselves out and who they are and what they want. But they will have me, and people like me, who, despite everything, are still here.

I had no one, for so many years, no one like me to look up to, to even help me understand and conceptualise my own feelings of gender dysphoria and what resources were available to help with that.

Because of the hysteria around us, the few rights and dignities we did have access to, basic amenities such as being able to use bathrooms with minimum risk, legal recogntions and robust protections from discrimination, children being kicked out of girl guides through no fault of their own.

This last year has been absolutely heartbreaking to be a trans person, seeing not only our societal acceptance collapsing, but seeing folk celebrating as it happens.

But now we’ve got to a point where bad faith actors have weaponised bigotries and discomforts about us to skyrocket us into one of the biggest culture war issues of the day – and start a borderline satanic panic about the mere existence and integration of transgender people into day to day life.

We are predators, brainwashing children, undermining women’s achievements. More eloquent folk than me have debunked these myths thousands of times over, so I won’t waste time trying to convince anyone of our basic humanity – point is visibility as a trans person rn is frankly dangerous.

Maybe you'd encountered trans people in the sparing media appearances we made, and thought it was a novel but ultimately harmless thing. Perhaps, like many of us, you'd used us or laughed at us as the butt of a joke (Not calling you out, I certainly did before I knew better.)

But even as someone who had known there was something going on with my gender for the best part of 2 decades at this point, even if I was lacking the language and understanding to fully conceptualise that at the time, I certainly didn’t think about trans people for the vast majority of those years.

On the one hand, there is something incredibly beautiful about just...being seen for who you are, and getting to exist as your authentic self. On the other, increased trans visibility has inadvertently led to a disproportionately massive increase in hostility towards trans people.

I think for most of us, if we're honest with ourselves, none of us really had any real thoughts about transgender people in any context, unless you either knew some of us, or knew you were one of us to some level.
