Don't get me wrong, AI generated code is cool and can be useful, but to entirely use these tools without understanding any of the code being created is ripe for security vulnerabilities, bugs, performance issues, and scalability problems.

Someone smarter than me once said (paraphrased because I cannot find the original quote for the life of me): If the web browser was invented today, it would not be allowed in the app store

I just completed "Guard Gallivant" - Day 6 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode And oh boy did I struggle with this one! This ended up being a really good reminder to take breaks (as often the answer will come, it just needs a lil time) and to regularly reevaluate the target I'm building towards

I just completed "Print Queue" - Day 5 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/5 I honestly really struggled with this one. I'd be interested in seeing other people's solutions or any writeups on their approaches, so I can learn something from this particular puzzle

The deep goal of bluesky is to decentralize the social internet so that every individual controls their experience of it rather than having it be controlled by 5 random billionaires. Everyone thinks they signed up for a demuskified twitter...we actually signed an exciting and bizarre experiment.

no, but there are a bunch of other solutions that could just be prioritised - like 'new accounts can't DM me', 'users without verified emails can't post', etc. etc. even more innovative stuff like reverse social proofs (blocked by X of my friends...) - and that would require giving up a lot less

Playing through the new #factorio DLC (it's amazing btw) Pro tip: seed production on Gleba is affected by productivity (either via modules in the assembler or the 50% from the biochamber). Makes the whole thing much more viable.

💡 Tip: You can set your website as your username on Bluesky! This is one form of self-verification, and we especially encourage official organizations and brands to do this! Examples include @npr.org @react.dev @duolingobrasil.com.br. Here's our guide for how to do this:

Honestly really enjoying BlueSky so far. Plus I think the use of domains as handles is freaking smart (as they're already a form of trust). Also seeing the use of DIDs in the #ATProtocol is awesome, as I've been working with DIDs for years and to see the massive adoption here is really cool.

Here's how the Bluesky team has described future plans to make the protocol and platform financially sustainable: developing a subscription model for extra features like high-quality video and customizations, while keeping all basic features free bsky.social/about/blog/1...
